    what size motor

I do agree with you on excess electronic gizmos.….but if you learn how to take advantage of them, it takes the guessing out of diagnosing issues. No more replacing part after part until you find the problem one. It tells you exactly what is wrong………

    what size motor

If you want something newer but still 2-stroke, look for an Evinrude e-TEC. It has injectors instead of carbs but still has that good old 2-stroke torque. The 25 and 30 hp models are real work horses. If you have a tug of war with an equal sized 4 stroke, you will win with the Evinrude. Lol

    POST YOUR PIC'S FISHING GALLERY.......

couple of weeks ago…….I fished my local river. Its a tidal river far enough north from the salt water bay to be considered brackish. Launched my boat at the peak of high tide and headed about 3 miles south to an area that “was” productive last year. Two hours there on weed lines and a bridge...

    Trailer upgrades……

That stuff is referred to as “marine lumber” at West Marine. Taco and Star Board are the brands…….expensive. I have read about it being used as bunk slicks. Good choice for slicks but not if you are looking to be rot proof as you still need to keep the wood bunks. I have used the taco board as...

    Trailer upgrades……

If you go back to the beginning of this thread you can see from the pics they are 2x4’s made of plastic. They attach to the brackets just like a traditional 2x4.….lag screws on the bottom. I was worried they might back out and have been checking the lag screws and they have not loosened.

    Trailer upgrades……

I dont like bunk covers as thats what caused my bunks to rot. My theory is that it holds water longer and the wood doesnt dry fast enough. If I ever had to go with wood again I would use non PT wood and seal them with something and then put on the bunk covers. However, withe cost of that it’s...

    Trailer upgrades……

There are roller bunks which combine the best of both worlds. They come in 4 and 5 foot lengths. I almost went this route but couldn’t find them in stock anywhere at that time.

    Trailer upgrades……

I had slicks on my last boat trailer…..they are much more slippery than the synthetic bunks. If its the slickness you are after it’s the right choice. However the 2x4’s under them can still rot. I was not after slippery…..I wanted rot proof……. There are rollers now that look like bunks……You may...

    Trailer upgrades……

They are not nearly as slippery as bunk slicks…….So far the have held up on a few road trips. I check the fasteners a lot because I’m paranoid but so far so good. The big ticket for me was adding the v-keel roller. Made life easy……

2020 Tohatsu 50 Bad performance, Is It My Prop?

To be honest I couldn’t tell you……without witnessing it. My intention is not to steer you into any plan but to make you aware of what you most likely are up against. If it were me I would start with a cheap tach like the “Tiny Tach“. You can pick one up for about $20 on Amazon. The installation...

River rats I need your help picking a boat

I have a different idea for you. There is a composite prop on the market that has changeable blades. You can carry a spare set of blades. If you bust a prop while under way you can replace the blades on the water with little effort and get home. It takes all the brunt so your lower unit...

2020 Tohatsu 50 Bad performance, Is It My Prop?

I went through this with my Duranautic 16 side console and Evinrude e-tec 30 hp. I didn’t have a Tach so I was unsure of rpm. My boat hit about 22 with just me and about 19 with a passenger aboard. After adding a tack I found I was getting only 5400 RPM’s. The suggested range is 5500 to 5800...

    I'm Back, Too

Those labels don’t mean what everyone thinks they do. There is a regularory body that enforces it. If you have a product that you sell/manufacture you can have it audited for compliance but it costs money. If your not willing to spend for that audit because maybe your sales volume in Ca doesn’t...

    Evinrude 30hp, another poor decision?

One thing to think about……..ethanol wasn’t a thing when that motor was new. If you can’t get ethanol free gas make sure you bleed it dry (run it out) if you plan on it sitting for long periods.
