well i dont know about you.. i would rather beach my boat on a sand/gravel bar then be stuck in some big waves with with a surface drive..

If it's a newer boat, which I imagine it is with the 75HP four stroke, there should be a plate indicating maximum engine weight. Add the weight of the 2 motors together and see if it's within specs. Personally, I think a 9.9 pro kicker is overkill for a 16 foot boat. I'd look for the lightest...
