    Potential flooring material?

looks like EVA foam flooring in my boat, mine is "blacktip jetsports" from Amazon, it's a copy of the HydroTurf brand, just costs less, then as mentioned there's SeaDek which is the super expensive one, 2 others are Marine Mat & Ocean Grip, i love my blacktip, had it in my 1546 & liked it so...

    Decking On Top of Benches

your call, i feel like the 1436 is already tippy whether i'm standing on the bench or the floor makes no difference, & that didn't change when i decked it.

    painting over existing paint

one of these trigger deals that snaps on the spray paint can will be your best friend, gonna have a sore thumb/finger without one, ask me how i know haha you can also etch the bare aluminum with distilled vinegar in a pinch or on the cheap instead of using the self etching primer, once it's...

    horizontal rod holders ?

i chose the gray rubber attwood ones because they're lower profile, the starboard style stick out into the floor way to0 much & are way too snaggy for my preference, i feel the starboard style ones are better suited hidden under a gunwale

put a 16p stiletto 4 blade prop on her, $200 off craigslist (better than $400 new!) no change in top speed or WOT RPMs from the 3 blade 15p stiletto, but now i can shred through narrow creeks at speed with plenty of grip, the 3 blade cavitated way too much to make sharp turns, not the case...

Cutting out or drilling out middle bench seat?

yes, 1/4" diamond plate craigslist find, stupid cheap, prolly never find a deal like that again, but can just use road signs, as long as they're aluminum which most of them are, or if you got the money you can order sheet aluminum or diamond plate sheets, just ain't cheap like road signs...

Cutting out or drilling out middle bench seat?

i'm in coastal SC, so regularly crossing 25-50' deep channels & bays far as the deck, the passengers would sit by me and/or on the front deck, the bench seat still there they'd just face me instead of forward. in wooded back creeks where it doesn't get rough, i've hunted 4 & a dog out the...

    painting over existing paint

that's what i used for the 1436, i scuffed the hull inside & out, then hit bare spots w/ the rustoleum self etching primer, & then used flat rustoleum tan/green/brown for the rest
  11. C

    horizontal rod holders ?

i used these & love them, i think they were $10 at walmart, i mounted them way farther apart than the instructions said to, & they work great for spinning rods & fly rods

    Anybody ride mx/sx?

sold my YZ & got a KTM EXC 450, only difference is 6th gear, electric start, & the license plate
  13. C

    painting over existing paint

yes, scuff it, clean it, paint it. all about the prep work, any bare aluminum spots should be primed first with a "self etching" primer

Charging with a single charger over a dual built in charger?

yes, be sure your battery switch (if you have one) is set to "all" so that the single charger charges all your batteries

Cutting out or drilling out middle bench seat?

for what it's worth, i opted NOT to do this to my 1436 over concerns about how to do it & not make it look like crap as well as how it might make the boat less safe in rough water because i do take it out in the bay & you never know when a random storm will kick up big swells that you must...

no sprayed on liner in mine, it adds weight. The turf flooring is lighter, grips better, more comfortable, & stays cooler in the summer. The 2 downsides compared to sprayed on liner is that the turf is a little harder to clean & a little more delicate. it's also cheaper & not that hard to...

still no progress with LED lighting, have been using a generator & clamps with LED & halogen shop lights for flounder gigging. picked up a 9' umbrella at Lowe's yesterday for $70 on sale, it shades the console all the way back past the engine, super nice for the dog & for me on these hot...

well no gigging/driving lights yet, spring makes it tough to get welding done as it's the boat buying season therefore the boat building season so my boy is all tied up making real money from his OEM leaning post contracts, he'll get to me eventually & it will be well worth the wait, the leaning...

simrad repair complete, got the transducer mounted back up. also, took the boat to the welder to figure out the lighting setup, decided to fabricate some expanded metal cages for the lights using the same mesh metal material like is found on War Eagle & G3 light setups, big bbq pits, etc. will...

NICE, Steve @ Simrad tech support is sending me a new transducer bracket free of charge! =D> found it on Amazon too for $25 (Lowrance part# 000-10262-001) yea LeftCoast, 40 is waaay under powered. this hull definitely begs for 90+, but that costs draft & i need to get shallow when it comes to...
