    Identify a Pflueger casting reel?

I could have swore I posted this earlier this week but came back to look at some replies and I don't see it at all. Nosing around in my garage and I ran upon a Johnny Morris casting rod with a red Pflueger casting reel with no markings on it as to what model it is. I've never seen it before but...

    Westin alumimum boat build

Nice job! I would try to get a more substantial TM mount than 2 2x4s bolted together. There's a lot of energy transferred from the motor up the shaft when you hit the GO button on the TM. I was fortunate enough to have my wife who worked at a metal fabrication shop (as Office Admin) and I...

    Lazy day oven baby backs

What is the white tub ingredient, 3rd from the left? I picked up some at the grocery this morning and want to try them today! Oh, and what could you have done differently to make them "fall off the bones" tender? Thanks! Mike

Leaking livewell in Lowe 1448 Big Jon

So I'm wondering about the use of roll on or spray-in bedliner in a livewell to fix this problem. My son-in-law's suggested that and it sounds like a good one but I'm wondering about the effects on the fish. Does anyone know if that compound would harm the fish? Thanks guys! Mike Sent from...

Leaking livewell in Lowe 1448 Big Jon

Well, I know it's been over a year since I've posted about this problem , but I thought I had it fixed until earlier this week when I found out the problem was still there. I had used JB Weld on the leaky rivets and there was no leak. But now cracks have expanded out from the rivets that were...

Leaking livewell in Lowe 1448 Big Jon

Thanks ibSteve. That's something for me to chew on. I like the idea posted down further about strapping the side ribs together to strengthen the boat. Great idea! Mike

Leaking livewell in Lowe 1448 Big Jon

OK, so what I have gathered from the above responses is that the livewell is a separate box inside the seat, right? Does this mean I'm going to have to take the seat out in order to get to the livewell? Thanks guys! Mike PS: ...and by the way, mine is an '80 model and it's just a metal...

Leaking livewell in Lowe 1448 Big Jon

It's been awhile since I've posted although I've lurked around out here from time to time. Took my boat out last weekend for the 1st time in a couple of years. I had just installed my new Helix 5 and a new MK Edge 45 Trolling Motor so I was really stoked and excited to try it all out. The last...

Choke problem on old Merc 25

Thanks OTW, but the motor starts when I use the old timey method and open the butterfly. It doesn't when I use the choke and the new fangled Enrichment Valve. One other thing I noticed is that last week when I was testing it out before I went to the lake, the bulb would firm up after a few...

Choke problem on old Merc 25

Pics have been uploaded of issue with the choke. They are numbered so you can follow what happens as the choke is rotated from OFF to ON. The wire leading to what I suppose is the timing linkage is not shown on any of the diagrams I have found. Neither is the plunger that closes down on the...

Great public link with manuals for many makes of Outboards!

The link works as of 9/4/14. No info for my '83 merc 25 but it looks like a very useful site with all the different types of manuals available.

Choke problem on old Merc 25

Thanks Nate. No, mine doesn't pull out, only rotate. I have noticed that there is a rubber plunger that the choke rod connects to (#35 in the diagram) that closes down over the enrichener valve (#2 Carb diagram) as the choke is activated. That plunger assembly is not shown on any of the diagrams...

Choke problem on old Merc 25

Got my boat ready for the recent Labor Day weekend by installing a brand new MK trolling motor and then I checked out the 1980 25 hp Mercury and although hard to start to begin with, once I got it started it ran fine for about 45 minutes. I stopped and started it several times and it started on...

    installing a 12v outlet wire

OK, I did a search for 12v outlet wiring before I posted but after posting my question I found Catfan84's Thread titled "Gauge?". In it Richg99 suggested the engineeringtoolbox.com website. I checked it out and I think I'll be fine with the 14/2 wiring. I'll probably end up getting one of those...

    installing a 12v outlet wire

I'm in the middle of installing my TM mount (https://s240.photobucket.com/user/MikeA57/library/TM%20Mount?sort=3&page=1) and I had the mounting plate drilled to install the power plug for the TM and also for a 12v outlet. I'm wondering though about cabling for the outlet. I plan on running a...

1978 Lund Mr Pike 18 Foot

Grab hold of it and try to tear it off the boat. That's how we checked the fiberglass bass boat I was given to refurb. It torqued and bent very convincingly that the transom was shot. I put a Fer Sale sign on it and sold it for what the 115 Mariner was worth.
