    A first for me

While trying to hook up the first striper of the year, my buddy hooked this fish called a cunner. Never seen or heard of these but apparently they are great eating and this one is a decent one. Check out the mouth on this thing!

    Springtime coldwater experiences

I have spent some time trolling this spring with not much success. Fish have been few and far between. Winnipesaukee rainbow, the only fish for the entire day: Sunapee lake trout, not bad for a 3 hour outing:

    Haddock off NH

Few weekends ago my buddy and I took advantage of an abnormally clam day on the Atlantic and set out for some haddock. Filled the cooler, could have had our limit but ran out of cooler space. Picture shows how calm, we are 5 miles out and it's 11am. Not typical.

    Bent prop shaft

Has anyone dealt with one before? Backstory: A good buddy of mine who is an avid female fisherman got taken pretty hard buying her first boat, a 1996 Spectrum 14' side console with a 25hp Merc on a trailer. Now I am not happy since she did not have me come with her to inspect the boat before...

Do you use a support for your trolling motor?

Like for trailering or motoring in big water? I never have before but I'm considering it for my new trolling motor. If you do, let me know which one. I'm considering a Ram Mount version.

Minn Kota Ulterra or Terrova? Something else?

I'm upgrading my trolling motor this season and I can't decide between the Ulterra and the Terrova. I am worried the Ulterra with it's auto stow/deploy is not as durable but I really like the idea of it and if I am spending all this money anyway, might as well get it. Only if it's standing the...

    Welding aluminum without a welder

Has anyone seen this stuff popping up on their Facebook pages or elsewhere? https://solutionwelding.com/products/rods?fbclid=IwAR2kvhTDT3JtE-Oyw5jzGQLW7Qul6KfMqj1DGlAniZsMKFnDhuvdgK5P-k0 Looks like you can "weld" aluminum with just a propane torch? This seems to me like they should call it...

Penn 600 and 620 Downriggers full package

-SOLD- Hello Tinboaters! I am selling my entire Penn downrigger setup. I have one Penn 600 and one 620 manual riggers both in great condition. Both have the attached Penn rocket launchers. I have extension booms for both riggers with all the hardware. I have 3 swivel bases- one is an 8...

    Sewing machine?

Can I sew heavy, marine vinyl with a standard sewing machine? I'm not doing a lot of it.

    Washdown setup

Looking for some ideas on adding a washdown setup to my Sylvan. I am primarily a freshwater fisherman and I'm contemplating a few different ideas. Would love to see what others have done to add a washdown system on their boats, either freshwater or saltwater/lakewater. Right now I am considering...

    94 Mercury 25hp ignition/kill wiring

First, let me say I am an electrical ignoramous. I can rebuild a motor from the crank no problem but electrical I am clueless. I am having incredible difficulty figuring out the wiring on my 14' Starcraft with my 25hp Merc 2 stroke. Motor has electric start and there is about a mile of wire...

    Flooring/carpeting project

I finally have a fairly large boat project that is worthy of starting a thread here for. I'm replacing some carpet and by default a bunch of the wood floor in my Sylvan 2100 Profish. I worked on it pretty much all weekend, got the demo and everything stripped down, and all the wood cut. I have...

    2004 Mercury 6hp 4 stroke longshaft

Looking to sell my manual start Mercury 6 horse longshaft. It's in great shape, only used as a kicker motor for trolling. It has a charging circuit and will come with the wiring. Motor has a rock guard installed that could come off very easily an returned to stock. For a kicker the rock guard...

    Trolling motor upgrade

I want to upgrade my 2006 Minn Kota PowerDrive to something with spot lock and i-pilot capabilities. Want to talk it out a bit and see if anyone has any advice. I'm a coldwater fisherman that tolls for salmon and trout. I have some specific questions too, of course. My boat is big, but only set...

    Ice season is (almost) here

Well, I had a fun experience last weekend for the first time (and hopefully the last). I fell through the ice. Swimming in NH in December is not recommended. Anyway, hopefully I will have much more fun reports in the near future.

    Any experiences with portable garages?

I'm probably going to be redoing the floors in both my boats this year, and I have no indoor space available to me. I'm considering buying one of those "Garage in a Box" shelters, but I hear a lot of them that are junk in a year- or even sooner. I assume some of it is a get what you pay for...

How bad will this be to fix?

Sebago Lake in Maine has some tricky spots that go from 200 feet to nothing in the blink of an eye. What's this going to cost me to fix? I would rather fix it than do a slip on skeg cover but I guess cost will dictate.

Electrical wizards... I need some help

This isn't boating related, but it is another big tin!! I can't seem to get any electrical minded folks to get me answers on my snowmobile forum, so I'm seeing if you guys can help. I am a completely inept when it comes to electrical. My online searches don't seem to be coming up with anything...

    Transducer placement

I am having an unreal time trying to get my transducer placed in a spot that doesn't throw water all over my motor. I have installed a ducer mounting plate so I can move it all over and have this summer moved it no less than 10 times. I have put it as low as possible and as high as it can go...

Bad tire wear, dual axle trailer

Been travelling a lot with my boat this summer and recently noticed one of my tires is wearing really bad on the inside of the tire only. It's this trailer: It's the driver side, rear axle tire, and I didn't notice it because it's only wearing on the inside edge of the tread. Wish I took a...
