How to make water pump stream more visible

I know I've been out for a spell, but, still check in every now and then. here is what I did with the plastic hose ran up to the driver's side: very convenient to observe the pressure as well as test the temp with your hand. and, when running the motor in a bucket, you will always forget that...

Coosa board transom 1 sheet or 2

I haven't checked, but there may be some tutorial videos on YouTube. once primed and painted, Coosa Board will hold any top surface such as carpet, vinyl coverings, etc. key word is PRIMED and PAINTED.... I have had a stack of maybe a dozen 2x2' pieces in the back of my shed for maybe 15...

Coosa board transom 1 sheet or 2

Coosa board comes in different thicknesses. plus - it is unfair to run a poll on this material as probably 99% of the members here have never heard of it, much less used it. you need to be more specific as to gluing two pieces together. the Coosa Board distributor, Boat Outfitters, is only a few...

Painting problem..Johnny and anyone else, too, please.

to all readers - - - - when I say: quick wipe with acetone or lacquer thinner. I mean QUICK!! - don't dilly dally around. hot solvents such as acetone, lacquer thinner, denatured alcohol, etc are very aggressive and will start to lift, bubble, tunnel and mess up any underlying finish. mineral...

    Star Board for decking material?

:WELCOME: I saw a 3ft x 3ft x 3/4" piece of star board in my local Big Box Store and I was very surprised at how heavy it was. there is no way I would recommend that material for flooring or large projects on a small boat. on the subject of "slippery" - - - remember that you will have small...

Painting problem..Johnny and anyone else, too, please.

Rich - in your sample photo, with the affected area enlarged, I don't see a primer. so, apparently the P/O just sprayed some paint over the hull for cosmetics and to get it ready to sell without the proper (time consuming) prep. (like a lot of people do with outboards just to spruce it up for a...

Painting problem..Johnny and anyone else, too, please.

yes, that looks obvious. I am pretty sure you have the skill set to do it correctly. just keep the spray paint on hand as it looks like this could be an on-going issue. you know the tune - - - round and round she goes - where she stops, nobody knows.

    Furniture Design and Application

as most of you know, I suffered quite a serious facial injury a few months ago. Recovery is going as well as can be expected. the numbness on the left side of the face is about 99% gone and the incision inside the upper lip is just now becoming painful. even though the damage was to the left...

    Transom is corroded

whoooaaaaaa NELLY !! is that a typo ???? do you actually mean inches and not feet ?? an 18" hole is another issue all together !!! Like Dale suggests - find out where the corrosion starts and stops. then - cut out the whole transom panel and hone up on your metalsmithing skills. no matter how...

    Transom is corroded

you are very welcome !! polyester resin and epoxy do not play well with aluminum. you will soon experience separation issues which invites corrosion (again). try to find a source for a good quality Zinc Chromate Primer for other areas of your construction. yes - the POR-15 is the wet-out agent...

    Transom is corroded

the object of the game is to remove all oxidation from the metal. bottom line is to prepare the metal to prevent ANY future exposure to air and moisture. first smooth it down mechanically with sanders, grinders, media blasting, etc. then with chemicals such as diluted muriatic acid in a spray...

    Transom is corroded

Johnny - agreed; that really does look bad !! have you ever used POR-15 rust encapsulator ? there is a way of using POR-15 to keep what you have, beef it up a little, and still get a few more years out of it without drastic surgical measures. .
