You hear people talk about compression numbers.Do any of you people know what a newer motor compression numbers are #-o A newer 25hp Merc will have around 145 to 150 #'s.I have purchased older Mercs & have had compression readings around those numbers also.Some times the rings may be stuck...

Just had a customer stop by that just bought a 15hp Force.Took it out for 25 minutes & motor stopped.Hard to turn over when he tried to restart.Paddled back to ramp.Brought it over for me to look at,had only 85 pounds compression on both cylinders & the paint was flaking off from the motor head...

Went fishing Sat & ended up with 5 for 8.Caught most between 12 & 20 foot on body baits. 4 Coho 1 Brown

Well I broke down & bought a new pair of seats.The seats are Tempress & worth what I paid for them.$(207 pair including shipping)Here is a pic of how I mounted them & what they look like. I just threaded the ends of a quarter inch rod & with a little finesse shoved it through to the other side.

I'd go with the 2 stroke just because of the weight issue.I don't believe a 4 stroke will last as long as a 2 stroke either, plus it will cost more to get the 4 stroke repaired when time comes.
