    86BassTrackerV17 1st fishing trip w/son 10/11/13 vids p15

Went on a fishing trip with my son Thursday, 10/11/13. Didn't catch much, just a spotted bass and a channel catfish, but we had a good time. It was his first time fishing with me since he was a small kid (I put aside fishing for his love of sports, baseball, football and basketball, those took...

It's a RAM mount. I really like that particular one and used a version of each for both Humminbirds.

    86BassTrackerV17 1st fishing trip w/son 10/11/13 vids p15

Finished final work on my 1986 Bass Tracker boat restoration this week. Cranked motor to flush after lake tests and fishing trips, then ran the last of the fuel out of the engine/carburetors to ensure good cranking next time. The little 75 HP Mercury motor will move the boat, an extra 6 gallon...

    Trailering without powered help

Any where these days to get simple cotton rope? All I can find is this dang crappy nylon stuff. Hard to handle compared to the stuff of my youth. I've looked at adding one of those catwalks, but I haven't come up with an attachment method I like yet.

I don't think I said how far I needed it in the water. :)

    Trailering without powered help

Mike, Thanks again for good information. Obviously I'm doing the retired engineer thing and over thinking the process. Way too simple and obvious. Dave

    Trailering without powered help

Planning on fishing Sandy Creek Park near my home for bluegills. I'm used to using my 75 HP motor to "power" up onto the trailer, but will not have this at Sandy Creek. I do have an bow mount trolling motor, but don't think that'll do much for trailering. I know this might be missing the...

1987 Bass Tracker V16 SC Guide Special Rebuild

Looks great. I did a similar restore to the one you're doing. Like you, I found to do it right, it took a good bit of time. A lot more than most folks estimate.

Best place to purchase replacement water pump parts

I've found out I can go to boats.net or marineengine.com, look at their diagrams, get part numbers, then google for the best price for the parts and have them shipped to my door much less expensively and much more time efficiently than if I go to a local dealer for the parts.

Reworking the tilt/trim system on my Mercury - need help

Motor is a 1986 Merc 75 HP 4 cylinder (serial #0A994929) I picked up that sat up a good number of years. Great compression, but many items have deteriorated due to age/weather exposure. Reworked the engine fuel/ignition systems and replaced transmission fluid. Engine is now running great. The...

    1965 evinrude fastwin

I would look at replacing the old fuel lines at this point. From your descriptions it sounds like they are dry rotted. If they're dry rotted, there is a good chance the fuel pump diaphragm may be dry rotted and need rebuilding as well. I just did this on a 86 Merc that had sat for a long...

    Outboard steering questions

I can't tell from your picture, but I agree with J Michael's assessment. Mine has both part #9 and a nut on the cable to hold the cable on. One o-ring goes at the end of the tube and inside the nut on the steering cable.

    Outboard steering questions

You can find a lot more about what your motor needs by going to somewhere like boats.net, selecting Mercury, then inputting your serial number. A set of links will come up with various parts drawings of the break down of your particular engine. It will include the items that come with the...

bringing and old mercury back to life question for mechanics

Motor: 1986 Mercury 75 HP Four cylinder Two cycle It's been a while since I posted and I'm currently in the process of bringing my old motor back to life and getting my boat in the water for a shake out cruise. This motor sat for a good number of years before I bought it and while it doesn't...

Illegal aliens seems to be the "unspoken" issue around these parts. Too much trash, debris and crime related to having the banks open to the public. Sad, but true.

Yes, it's a nice place for sure. I'm not from there though. But one other thing the area shares with Gainesville is all the lakes/fishing areas. Unfortunately here, if you don't have a boat, you just about can't go fishing, very little bank access. But the lakes, both small and large, are...

Nah, I went to Athens Technical College, but my daughter in-law, son in law and several others go to college at UGA or have graduated from there. I live about 30 minutes tops from the campus.
