1986 Evinrude 40 Tiller, How to wire fuel primer solenoid

Picked up a 1986 Evinrude 40 Tiller motor on a project hull. The fuel primer solenoid was wired to a aftermarket switch that was added to the lower right motor cover. It had a momentary switch that the toggle snapped off on the way home due to a hard stop and the motor swinging to the side...

    1967 Starcraft Seafarer - 1986 Evinrude 40hp

Picking up a new project tomorrow morning. Had gave up on purchasing a boat after having multiple deals fall apart due to some shady sellers. Decided to browse marketplace a final time and came across a old and tattered Starcraft Seafarer that's overpowered with a 40hp Evinrude. Plan is to...

    Tracker Guide V14

Hello, Been a long time follower on the forum but haven't been active for a long time. Got caught up in the kayak craze for about 5 years but a knee injury wouldn't permit me to continue pedaling my Oldtown Sportsman 120pdl any longer. Sold it and went looking for a boat to purchase with the...

    2020 Suzuki DF9.9B

Took delivery of a new Suzuki DF9.9B last week. First EFI motor. Took advantage of the Suzuki since it's easy to convert to a 15/20 if I end up with a larger hull down the road.

1993 Johnson 3hp - what is the proper layout of ignition parts

Had to get under the flywheel to replace my throttle cables (according to instructions sheet, found out it was unnecessary) and the black plastic bearing that goes with the support plate popped out. Does it go under the plate, or snap around the outside edge. Thanks!

    New Utility V Boats

In the near future i'm going to be purchasing a new utility V and tiller outboard. What does everyone use & what are their dislikes. I'm wanting something in the 14'-16' X 6' range. I'd prefer split middle bench and a flat floor.

    12' V Floor

Here is a simple idea for adding a floor to small V bottom boats. All I did was use the ribs as a guide and cut the plywood to match their shape. Plywood sits neatly on top. Very Little weight has been added by doing it this way and no framing was required. It also kept the COG down as low as...

1968 EVINRUDE FASTWIN 18HP - COLD START PROBLEMS

I came across a 1968 18hp Evinrude that appeared to be a great runner. Ran great at the sellers place, he had it running before I got there (hint), and told me it could take a few pulls to fire up from cold. Sure enough the next day it was awful, Ended up spraying fuel into cylinder to get it...

1986 Yamaha 6hp wont pump water without first blowing compressed air throw tell tale

I'm having a weird issue with a 1986 6hp yamaha. It will not pump water out the tell tale unless you blow compressed air backwards through the system. After doing that it pumps fantastic and will continue to pump after shutting down the engine. If it sits for a day or 2 you have to repeat the...

12' V Hull, What make/ model is this?

This was my great uncle's fishing boat and has been passed on to me. Unfortunately, He became ill and has been put into assisted living, and my dad is now his POA. It was registered back in the 1960's, but, our county clerk can't seem to find it in the database. I do know the wooden rails are...

    Nissan, (Mercury / Tohatsu) 2.5 - 2 Stroke - Poor WOT

Hello once again, This time I'm having issues out of a 1998 Nissan 2.5hp 2 stroke. I installed a brand new carb and It starts and idles great. It runs wide open for a few seconds and begins hesitating then shuts down like it does when you run the carb dry after use. It will run perfectly up...

    Evinrude 18hp Throttle Linkage Questions

When working on the 1967 Evinrude 18 I just acquired I heard a loud clang and lost throttle response with the tiller handle. I got looking around and saw a threaded bushing laying on the floor. Naturally, I screwed the threaded end back into the throttle assembly and was able to use the tiller...

    9.5hp to 18hp on a boat rated for 15hp

After getting my 9.5 sorted and still wanting more umph, I have someone wanting to swap for a 18 Evinrude Fastwin. Would I have a significant gain in performance on a wide bodied 12' sea nymph 12r V-hull? Also, is the integrity of the hull safe if a bit overpowered?

    1966 Evinrude 9.5 low power

I was given this engine as part of a trade for the Sea Nymph 12R Blue Water I posted in the boats subforum. It starts easily and runs well in forward at idle / mid speed. It can be a bit cantankerous to keep running in neutral without advancing the throttle and just seems to have very little...

New boat day! 1986 Sea Nymph 12R Blue Water

Swapped around a 1232 Alumacraft for this awesome 1986 Sea Nymph 12R Blue Water and 1966 Johnson 9.5. Can't wait to hit Lake Cumberland while I'm on Vacation this week. The only thing I'm debating on changing is the previous owners rear seat mod because it looks a bit unsightly compared to the...

    In defense of the 1232

After acquiring a Alumacraft 1232 last weekend I was able to put the small boat through it's paces yesterday. I must say it has exceeded my expectations in every way. I'm no stranger to Jon's having owned a 1436 and 1448 V. Obviously, you have to be mindful of your footing, but, when...
