    Sketchy Shallow Run

Having used both anchors in many bottom structures and river conditions, the toothed anchor is a bit better holder and easier to un-stick in rocky ledges. Twenty pounds is minimum weight for our 14ft hulls, we are in some heavy river waters, and never anchor down in a swift run. The pyramid...

    Jet Boating Tips/Advice

Look for the most undisturbed water flow. That can be a vee or slick, deeper water. To go down, I turn the bow upstream and use the trolling motor to slowly drop the boat through the same paths as coming up. Sometimes I idle the outboard or even take it up, according to the speed of the river.

    Sketchy Shallow Run

In the drift boat (14ft), I use a 30lb pyramid anchor from Hyde Drift Boats, sometimes that anchor will lodge in a ledge and it's dangerous to get it loose, if you can. I'm going to one of their cylinder toothed anchors. And usually we keep a second anchor if we need to cut the anchor line. I...

Converting a prop outboard to jet

I run a 2 stroke jet on a 16ft welded hull, no tunnel. The shop that set up the boat is about 2 hours away. It needed to be adjusted just right because I didn't use a jack plate. This shop builds hulls and often will switch the foot to prop, we have waters for each in the area. But, all his...

    14ft Welded Jon

Only one I can find is Weld-Craft? Want a mod-vee.

    14ft Welded Jon

Thinking of building a smaller 1442 or even a 1436 boat when my 1648 jet sells. Reason is that it's hard to put-in a wider boat on my home rivers. Very rocky areas need a smaller hull to access. Would prefer a mod/vee and small jet. Welded would suit.

    Value Jet/Jon

These mountain rivers around here would be a good place for 14ft modvee with 36-42" width and a smallish jet. I don't know if anyone makes a factory model welded.

    Value Jet/Jon

We have a bunch of muskie and trout tailwaters up here. I think a couple guides in east TN are going to buy it, just talked to them. It was a good test boat. If I build another jet, it will be a 12-14ft for the small streams here. My Hyde drift boat is 14ft uhmw bottom and does it all except...

    Value Jet/Jon

This is probably a stupid question...but...I put together a 1648 Weldbilt jet/jon vee and want to go bigger. It's got 10hrs on a new 50/35 Tohotsu and three built in stowage compartments/hatches. I'm asking 2K less than it cost to put together, and I'm throwing in the tanks and extras. There...

    Fasteners for wood floor

Finishing up a 1648 fly fishing jet. Going to sell or trade for a bigger prop tunnel. I run some big-rock rivers in the NC/TN mountains. The new marine plywood floor is two pieces, primed with old-timers and finished with rustoleum gray. It's tough! Using wide abrasive safety tape for traction...

    Jon boat advice

Wait another day and someone else will be fishing/hunting from it. I have a somewhat new 1648 with a 50/35 jet and wouldn't take 10k for it. Don't know your water/rivers but here in western NC, it is a game changer with a jet. As long as it get on plane, don't worry about speed. Take it for a...

Rubber or Foam Flooring for Jon Boat

Have a 1648 weldbilt, the floor ribs are level in this model. For the floor, used marine plywood treated with old-timers mixture primer, takes a couple weeks to cure, and finished with exterior rustolium. Could have put sand in it for traction, opted for a 6" wide stair tread tape, used for...

Anyone here have or know someone with K5?

This is uhmw applied without glue or screws using champhered holes and weld washers. Same as applied on heavy mining dump equipment. About 20yrs of wear. K5 sounds interesting option. What's the cost and what shop does the work in the southeast? Susquehanna is described as a boat killer.
