Brazing L to aluminum boat side

A local aluminum welder did a video with a guide talking about how difficult it is to weld aluminum boats correctly. The issue is getting the surfaces properly clean to get the temperature right and make everything work. I bought some of those aluminum welding rods with the intention of using...

    Eva foam mistake

You may want to look at some sort of plastic baseboard or edging. The EVA will shrink more, so better to have something that more than fills the gap.

    9.9hp on a new 1236 Tracker Grizzly?

I am looking at Crestliner, All weld and maybe the Alumacraft 1240. The Alumacraft dealer 88 miles away wants $2,200 just for the boat. Crestliners are sold out in the 1240 in the Tri-state area. I can't find anything but Tracker toppers and old boats on CL or Facebook. I passed on a...

    9.9hp on a new 1236 Tracker Grizzly?

I was planning to buy a new 1236 grizzly and put a 9.9 hp outboard on it and I see they are only spec'd for a 5 hp? It is much sturdier than my old Generation III 1236 that I had a Merc 9.9 on, so not sure if there is a good reason for the restriction? I see lots of guys have 9.9 hp on Tracker...

    So Close! What to do?

Just sold my Sea Nymph to a nice guy who drove up from Norfolk with his wife. I hope he gets a lot of use out of that boat. Here is a picture from the last time I took it out a couple weeks ago.

    12' Flat-Bottomed upgrade

I had a 1236 jon for 22 years. I am not a big guy (5'8" and 170-180) and I had guys up to maybe 225 on the boat with me. I had a 9.9 2 stroke Merc and battery and always too much gear. You have to be very careful and the guy on front cannot stand without risk of falling. as far as flipping...

    POST YOUR PIC'S FISHING GALLERY.......

Took my Sea Nymph (not sold yet) out for the first time in a month or so as river has been low. Took my 16 year old grandson out. He was a big help and I was able to stay dry with his help. Fished from about 9am until 2pm. Fishing was sporadic, but in the end, he out caught me 10-6. All...

    Evinrude 9.9 2 stroke

I had huge issues on my 1998 Merc 9.9 due to faulty fuel line. the interior lining had disintegrated, and pieces had gotten into the engine fuel intake. Took me forever to troubleshoot and finally fix. Worth checking.

    Keep it or sell it

There is always more $ to spend on boats, no matter what you buy. It would be good to use what you have and can easily manage if you can without having to borrow money. I just sold my old jon boat I had for 22 years and got a bigger boat. It ended up being a little too big for me and now I am...

    So Close! What to do?

I had the CE Smith lighted guide posts for my jon. I loved those because it was easy to see boat night or day. This needed something more to ensure the boat goes on straight the first time. I also am not planning on taking road trips as I am selling it. I just listed it on CL. I hope to use...

    So Close! What to do?

I finished my upgrades and am posting pics. I took the boat out yesterday and I was able to launch and trailer much easier. I did still have to get wet up to my knees, but that was due to shallow launch that required me to back up into the water further. I also trimmed the motor up one notch...
