Cover for 1953 Lyman outboard 16'

Happy New Year! Am looking for a decent cover but trying to keep costs down for Lesa's 1953 wooden Lyman with an outboard on it. It is kept inside. V-shaped bow and no windshield on it. I know there are folks in here that are well versed in covers! Thanks in advance.

    While on Vacation...........!

Not sure how many here appreciate where our love of outboards came from historically. I am probably one of the few who like to go back in time to an earlier but not necessarily more simple time in boating and outboarding. Took ten days and drove from Central Florida up to Tomahawk Wis. for the...

    1925 Evinrude Ruddertwin

Picked up a really nice Evinrude Ruddertwin today in excellent shape. Almost no hand tool marks anywhere on the engine! Nickle plating still intact almost everywhere it was applied. Am in Tomahawk Wis. at the National antique outboard show and swap meet

    Sierrra &%@*X+!!

Just had a young man of about 17 come by the house that lives in the neighborhood and likes to fish. That in itself is pretty amazing these days. Said he and his Dad just tuned up their 1970 Evinrude 4hp and it was not running correctly. Told him to drop it by the house and I will look at it...

    Tomahawk Wisconsin bound.

Lesa and I are headed up to Tomahawk Wisconsin for the National antique outboard meet up there. One heck of a swap meet for sure. It is held along the total length of an old aircraft runway that borders the river. Lots of boating, swapping, buying and selling plus pristine boats/engines in the...

1953-54 Evinrude 15hp back into service

Been a bit slow in here lately. Just got done bringing this one back from it's long slumber. Nice running engine. Makes me wish I still had mine! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Pw8pFSqzlA

Twin 1956 Evinrude 30hp Engines back in service again

This boat came in to me a couple years ago. I was asked to fully check and service the pair of engines on it. The boat is a 1956 Trojan and the engines are original to the boat! The owner was in the final stages of a 12 year restoration project on this hull and engines. Workmanship on the...

1957 Johnson 10hp back from the dead

This is the last year Johnson had the beefy 15/18hp gearcase on this engine making it about as bulletproof as you can get. These engines ran extremely well with good idle characteristics and plenty of power to plane out and run at a decent clip on the boats it was meant for. This one was...

1954 Johnson 25hp (RD-16) back in service after decades of non-usage

A good customer brought this in to me a couple weeks ago to go through completely and I mean completely. When I got done stripping it there was nothing but transom brackets, exhaust housing and powerhead. Complete new ignition on it now. This engine has a vertical double pulley/cable system...

Another old V4 75hp comes back into service.

New Year's Day - 2021 This one is my personal engines. Lesa is fantastic about jumping in and riding in whatever boat I threw in the water but I do believe she wants a boat that will allow us a bit more zippy cruise speed than the typical 35-40hp engines we have been running. So........... This...

1960 Evinrude V4 Starflite 75hp back in service.

This boat is immaculate and so is the engine. Had been in a museum for decades. Museum was bought out and liquidated so this one was purchased and brought in for me to put back in service. Full service done on it and am liking how well it runs. I have the Johnson version on the back of a boat...

    Too much alcohol !!

Had a boat "come back" after doing the complete boat fuel system and carburetors. Engine is a late 90s Johnson 175 in the 60-degree configuration. Anyway...ran fine when it left. Customer came back in with a less than stellar mood claiming that the engine ran perfectly for almost exactly 4...

New species of junk fuel line! Went from silver to blue.

Remember the junk silver colored fuel line?? Well now it is the blue stuff. Failure is almost identical to the silver in that the inner liner is coming loose and blocking fuel flow. Keep an eye out for this as it could be the kiss of death to a 2-stroke.

    Evinrude Outboards is no longer

Evinrude outboards has announced that it will cease production of outboards. I have been a long time believer that their head of Engineering would help sink this company the same way he took down OMC. Sometimes I Hate it when I am right. No need to pile on here......it is the end of a 111...

107 year old Evinrude back in service! 1913 at it's best.

I bought this engine a while back and it ran only one time and was a bear to start. Lots of blow-by which on a 2-stroke is a killer. It sat for a while, then I disassembled it, then it sat for a while longer, then I diagnosed what had to be done. A friend of mine has access to a shop that can...

Woke up a 200XP Evinrude after over two decade sleep.

This engine has been sitting in the shop after replacing a piston well over 2 decades ago! Carbs had been rebuilt and never touched or filled with fuel. The engine was fogged down with fogging oil back then and I shot a ton more in it prior to rolling it over and while rolling it over with the...

    Tomahawk Antique Outboard Nationals 2019

Not very many may be interested in this but for some there may be an interest in the heritage of outboarding. For those....enjoy. Lesa and I travelled up to Tomahawk Wisconsin at the end of July for the annual Tomahawk Super meet. Meet is a huge swap meet and show for antique outboards and...

    Tomahawk Nationals 2019

Lesa and I travelled up to Tomahawk Wisconsin at the end of July for the annual Tomahawk Super meet. Meet is a huge swap meet and show for antique outboards and boats. Lesa picked up this nice completely original 1957 Johnson 3hp. The best example I have ever seen! She also picked up a...
