Yeah same here on my Ionic 50, there were some who doubted these batteries would work for trolling motors but they certainly do. My TM is a 12v Terrova and when we fish for six or seven hours it’s still around 90% full.

I also have used Goop for many years on all types of surfaces, it’s worked flawlessly!

As others have said weight is a big killer of speed on these small boats. Lead acid group 31 batteries can weigh close to 90 pounds each. If decking is wood especially 2x4 and 3/4” deck that’s a bunch of weight. Even how much gear you bring on a trip affects your speed. My buddies tackle box...

So I added a couple of trailer tongue steps to my Jon trailer. Used a spare tire bracket on the second one to get it higher and further out. Works pretty well but now I need to come up with a grab rail for assist. These are from Amazon and around $90 shipped.

Any of you guys using trailer steps to get over the bow? I’m spoiled on my Triton cause it came with a great set of steps to get out of the boat. Pics would help, looking for any ideas handmade or something you purchased.

I personally would think a motor bouncing around in the back of a truck or boat would cause more damage than on the transom🤷‍♂️. I have a 9.9 on my G3 1652 and I use a transom saver since it came with the boat. My buddy has same boat and has towed with his down since 2005 with no issues.

That really depends on the screens you are using. Larger newer screens plus Active Target or Livescope would need to be on a separate battery. They will draw more than your trolling motor.

That price is high compared to others! Ionic 125 duel 12v is $789. I use it on my Triton, it starts my 175 pro xs and my 12”, 9” HDS screens and Active Target. Warranty is very similar though, I believe the last few years of the eleven is just a discount on a new battery.

I’ll echo the others on stripping discs. I was in the body shop business forever and this little tool will help immensely. I stripped a couple restorations with this.

Two 50 amp Ionics would work fine. I have one 50 on my 12v Terrova and in six hours of fishing it’s still around 90%. Now I don’t have all electric, just use it for normal shore usage and holding Spotlock on points etc.

Well my assumption would be the reason for the added speed on tm would be the same reason I gained 2.5 mph using my 9.9. I lost 148 lbs in batteries. I have not measured tm speed but making the boat that much lighter has to add speed. So with that in mind, speed gain might depend on weight loss...

I have the same results. With led acid I would use the 3 setting on my Edge 55 most of the time to fish along a shoreline. When I switched to ionic Lith 3 was too fast, cut back to two and now same speed as three setting.

I’d have to disagree on this one. It’s done all the time, I did it myself years ago. I mean, why would the cloth help the adhesion, it’s the resin that makes it stick. Maybe whoever you heard this from used wood that was not dried properly, moisture sure would could lack of adhesion.

Nice job on the numbers, this helps for the ones who have doubted this was possible. I can fish for 6-8 hrs with my 12v Terrova on a 1652 and only use a minor percentage of battery. Mines got just one 50 amp Ionic. I mostly use mine between 3-4 but sometimes move further distances on 6 or 7.

I have a plastic waterproof amo box that I keep stuff in like air horn, paperwork, tools I don’t want to rust etc.

Or an app that shows how much charge is left 🤷‍♂️
