    NGK BUHW2- vs - Champion L78V

My Nissan/Tohatsus like NGK, but they were also spec'ed for them. NGK ran great in my 350 Mercruiser as well. Its been a while, but Evinrude/Johnsons I've had liked the Champions.

Is the motor height going to be an issue?

Agree with Thill, test it. It is probably going to run fine with the 1" blocks. Going to flush may pick you up some mph, but might cause problems when turning. Many mfgs recommend 1" below. My 10HP Sportwin sits like that on both boats I've used it on. To go higher than the 1" blocks, can...

    Post Eclipse Season Start

Well, todays fishing was called due to too many aches and pains from the prior three days! ;) And the weather was turning colder with rain. Monday and Tuesday started with frost on the ground, and made for some cold boat rides, but the sun warmed things up quickly. Tuesday the wind became...

    Tin Walleye set ups

When I fished more for walleye, it was mostly jigging. I've seen some of the trolling rigs set-up with side planners, etc, and they can get elaborite, and probably be a tight fit on a 12'er. I'm guesing you are looking more at a two rod crankbait trolling and maybe back-trolling worm/leach rigs?

    Post Eclipse Season Start

It was a cold, damp day on the river. Water temp was colder than we hoped. Fish were only biting a slow finesse retrieve. Great day for the conditions. 8:30AM - 4:30PM Air Temps: 36-46F Water Temps: 48F Cloudy all day Breezy at times Water Level: High 8.5', stained 46 Smallies, two 18.5"...

    Yamaha 25hp 14ft semi-V rpm range question

60-75% of top speed @ WOT. Not of RPM. So if your wot top speed is 30mph, cruise about 18-24mph.

    Yamaha 25hp 14ft semi-V rpm range question

As long as you are within the mfg wot rpm range, you should be good. You will notice a difference in not having the same "pull" out of the hole, that you did with the lower pitched one. I only run at wot for short periods on every trip. Typically for long runs, at about 60-75% of top speed...

    Post Eclipse Season Start

Our next run of the river is coming up. Sunday thru Wendesday. Looks like the water levels will start out close to last trip, but water temps will be warmer. My son planned it on the full moon, but I'm not much of a believer for inland rivers. Potential for record setting numbers for us...

    Alternative to Gluvit

I have not used gluvit on the bottom of the boat. Just on the inside of aluminum and on surfaces of wood. It is not UV stable, so will need paint over it if exposed. I wouldn't think that it would be a good bottom paint/sealer. There are other specialty coatings, like for gliding over...

2012 Yamaha F60 won't shut off with key

Welcome to Tin Boats! It sounds like you have an intermittent ground wire. Since it is effecting multiple items, would start at the switch panel and trace back.

    Console placement

Agree. I like it! It needs a windshield though, to collect all the stuff from a days outing. ;)

    Bow or Transom Trolling Motor?

Might be a good test of the remotes range. ;)

Getting ready to outfit new Crestliner Storm 1700 with Elco motor and ??? electronics

I thought there was some discussion about this on the MK trolling motors, and the higher end units had a parameter to set to alleviate it??? ie too much torque trying to make a position adjustment using GPS features. Anyway, if it becomes an issue, call MK tech support. There might be an easy fix.

    New Lowrance Eagle

I read thru it as well, and felt he was biased toward Lowrance. Seemed to ding Garmin because they were not just marine electronics based and don't have the years of experience. Well, their Garmin Force trolling motor seems well designed and gained allot of following in a very short time over...

    Another Montana Newbie

Welcome to Tin Boats! We did a road trip thru MT last summer. Didn't get to the Helena area though. Went south just past Butte, to Idaho. Beautiful country.

1979 Sylvan Rodmaster Bare Bones Rebuild

Yea, only something to consider. FWIW: It never happened when boat was stored outside with a tarp. They infested it when it was in a shed, but still had the cover left on. It wasn't near the main house, though.

    Trolling motor mount

It is a rather large gap, and suspect it will be more than pictured, if the rubber mounts weren't on the front. I think with stacked washers, more susceptible to bolt twisting/leaning sideways, under torque. Not sure what size trolling motor the OP is putting on, but some boats only support...
