So, got this old boat from my brother (he is on a VERY short budget). So I figured I’d try to bring her back!!
Not 100%. But fishable and leakproof

So, see the pics and give a suggestion? Idk?? I’m thinking a 1/2” bend up to the rail height with an 1”- 1.5” fold to house some wood for strength? Then have it fold over a few inches for securing it to the reinforcement wood that I will insert in there with a few coats from west systems epoxy to keep everything good and water tight??

Have NO IDEA what it looked like originally or where the transom corner brackets are so they will be added also for strength and to sure up the port and starboard aft flex that it has in there now.

I’m open for ANY suggestions,,,

Without looking at the title of memory serves me right this is a mid-late 50’s blue star....

The front “wall” I’ll add a skin to it to get rid of that torn aluminum and probably have a cap made to fit the bow... just cut an access port in from the front for battery, anchor and suds cooler.

Thanks!

Daniel

The main thing to keep in mind when doing reinforcements is to taper the rigidity so that it doesn't go from stiff-to-flexible at one spot. One way to do that is to have an over-sized extra layer of material at the base of a brace's attachment (like a transom knee brace, for example).

Good luck on your project.
