Re- carpeting my 96' tracker, all was going well until I was installing my deck new 1/2in plywood measured exactly to the old wood using 20oz marine carpet now my consoles don't match up to the sides about a 2in gap and I'm stumped one what to do? Pulling the deck is not an option thanks for any ideas

Huh, that gap looks a lot larger than the thickness of carpet. I thought maybe you had wrapped the carpet under the console but it doesn't look like it and that probably wouldn't account for that big a gap. I'm sure you didn't add carpet padding ( :LOL2: ).

Sounds like you screwed the ply down and then put the carpet down. Did you double the carpet around the edges (doesn't seem likely to create this gap even if you did). I can't imagine the gunnels flexed during the project, but the gap between the console side and hull does not seem uniform. I don't know. Perhaps the new ply is note seated fully against the floor framing under the console.

Sorry. This is just my not too helpful steam of consciousness.

Just guessing that the extra carpet thickness made the floor a bit too wide & it isn't sitting down on top of ribs tight.

Thanks fellas, well what I'm doing is I put some heavy weights where m putting the consoles hopefully it will smash it down a bit

Did you replace the carpet on the console?
Maybe something is in the way not allowing the console top to seat properly on the console bottom.
