Curious as to what people are using for DIY livewells other than coolers? I want to add one to my middle bench and use the top of it as the lid.

Did you put it inside one of the benches?

I did not, I did want to try that at first but found the benches to be too shallow to make a good livewell in that boat, as I recall they were only 8" deep.

I ended up extending my front deck and put the livewell between the second and third benches.

I used a heavy duty tote from Menards, plumbed it how I wanted and stuck it in the bow then decked over it. Used an old rubber mat secured under the deck to seal it. Worked like a charm.

I got a used cooler from my son to try out. Gotta get it cleaned up and locate the other items to make a livewell. Kinda glad it has the drain on one of the ends. Gonna upgrade the hinges also. I'll try to remember to get pics of the process.

I made a few portable livewells a while back. I don't use it any more though, as my new boat has one built in.

I used the livewell kit from TBN and a tote from Lowes. It worked very well. Installed under deck with a hatch lid over it.
