got a little free time to hit the lake this afternoon.

before i headed out i took a glance at fishhound and found a simple report "green pumpkin shaky head around visible cover" im not trying to promote their site i'm not even a member i just think it could help folks around here out. the reports are free and good. another report gave my structure info i used to win a tournament in feb.

hit the water in a sprinkle about 3pm. i started by playing with a few jika rigs i made.within a few cast the rain got harder and we found refuge in a open boat house to let it subside.
i grabbed my spinner with my shaky head tied on and made a awkward cast as to not hit any thing it still carried a good distance. gave it a shake, felt something odd,set the hook reeled in a 1.5 large mouth.

not wanting to venture to far from the landing and "our" boat house we just dropped the tm and started fishing. on the second dock i caught a 1.12 spot. my dad promtly hooked one and it got of half way to the boat.

the next dock had a boathouse with a pontoon hanging in it. im working on improving my skipping skills. on my forth attempt i got way under it and let my lure sit for a bit. when i shook it a felt 1 tick and then my braid started going under the dock,i set the hook and managed pull this beast of a spot out

she hit 3lb 4oz. she was empty feeling and skinny for this lake. going by the tail she is fresh off the beds and i would guess was pushing 4 not long ago.

i caught another 2ish spot off that stretch of docks and dad lost 2 more. by this time the sun was peaking though we had shed our rain gear and felt ready move. we jumped to a similar stretch of docks a mile down stream.

first cast dad loses a fish for the last time and is getting in a funk. and then ....

4lb 3oz lm. she was as big as any six pounder ive held just empty and drained from the spawn.

she took the bait and pulled for a bit before skying out and showing her self. he played her well and got her to the boat. then she shot under it. i dove to the trim switch and while im lifting the motor the line and his rod tip headed that way. i was fearing the worse as she was winning the race towards the outboard. as the foot lifted out she jumped and body slammed the lower unit.
dad then led over for we to land and i quickly lipped her and broke his fish losing streak.

he landed another off that stretch while i snagged every piece of brush there was.

as dusk came we move back the first docks to see if we could scrape a few more off them.
i swapped to a jig for a new look and caught our last of the day a 2.5 lb spot.

so we caught 14.8lb in 5 hours including hiding in the boat house.

tackle of the day: medium spinning outfits, 30lb power pro with 12lb seagar leaders.
