Exactly what it is LDUBS. But I notice that it's not just big massive 3oz+ size baits. It's also small baits which I use. That swimbait technique has a hardcore following. Some people dedicate their time to pursuing big Bass with swimbaits and nothing else. My arm hurts thinking about it. :LOL2:
I haven't fished for large mouth bass for many years. I don't think the word swimbait was in the vocabulary, but I tossed a lot of stick minnow lures (Rebel & Rapala) for years. Thinking about the amount of water we covered tossing those lures, we should have caught a lot more fish.
I’ve been throwing big baits for about a decade and a half now. Locally, I’ve done best with MS slammers, 3:16 Wake Jr’s, Matt’s Hardgill, and some homebrew rats I’ve made. Messed around with big glides like the BullShooter and Godzilla, and I also have a couple of old school Gillzillas from Orso’s Dave Roberson that I treasure.
The bass in my local lake chow down on tilapia and gizzard shad, so big swimmers are a good choice many days. Here are some results.
