Well I picked this beauty up about 2 weeks ago off CL for $450, Its a 1965 monark 14' v Last weekend I pick the motor up off of CL also for $320. Its a 1961 evinrude 5.5 fisherman.

I havent had a chance to take them out to due work but hoping this weekend I will be able to! Have a few things in mind for it. First off im going to move the battery and gas tank to the bow and box them venting the gas tank of course. Second move the trolling motor that came with the boat from the transom to the bow.Third custom live well between the second and third seats.

Little back ground Im 30 yrs old live in Okc I work at a stainless steel fab shop! I have been fabing for 11yrs,

I would love to hear your guys input any tips tricks send them my way!

That's a beautiful motor man!!! [-o< [-o< [-o<

Fish it a few times before you do anything to see where improvements need to be. If you fish by yourself a lot and plan to fish from the bow, the weight of the battery and gas may be best placed in the stern. Good luck to you.

Thanks I love how this era of motors looks. 99.9% of the time Im with a buddy and me being 220lb I figured the more weight out of the stern the better. Im going to make all my decking out of aluminum being at a fab shop I have bunch laying around. That should also help with the weight issues too

Hopefully I will not be working this weekend and I can take her out!

Sorry, I was trying to click on the clapping guy, not the prayer. Yeah, those model Evinrudes are sweet looking. My buddy has an 18 HP in the same style. If well cared for, it should last forever, or at least oultast you!

No doubt I just hope the guy that had it before treated it well.

First off welcome to tinboats, You have a great advantage to most of us on this site. I wish I had access to a fab shop like the one you work in. I have found that if you buy some flowers every now and then the wife will be much happier when she watches you spending time on the boat......as many on this site will attest to, its a disease, and it is very addictive. Good luck with your new boat, cant wait to see how it turns out.

Ill have to try the flower thing. She has been alittle moody after the baby he is 5 months old yesterday. Having a fab shop does have its perks. I know we get alot of the pontoon guys in here wanting brackets for the bbq to hang on the rails. I know the next thing is going to be a portable livewell.

At that angle, you may consider a preventative measure to make sure your motor gets a good bite onto your bracket. It may want to move a bit (or potentially come loose).

Congrats on the boat. Look forward to seeing your progress.

Yea, I share a concern about metal-on-metal on which to clamp the trolling motor. Most of the better ones I've owned or seen have a section of wood or rubber, to allow the clamp rings something into which to bite.

Of course, one could run a screw or two into the edge of the clamp, but that limits the ability to remove the TM easily. rich

Thanks for the tips! I'll mark where the two bolts are and hole saw in the back and weld some tubing thru the inside to keep it from slipping off kind of like a recessed mount

Did alittle work on the boat this weekend. Added a battery box, bow light, and anchor lock. I mounted 2 switches in the front of the battery box for the bow and stern lights. I also moved the fuel tank to the bow and reran the fuel line
