Hello all-

I have completed a rebuild of a 1996 Northwood 1675 and would like to share with this group. I have found TinBoats.net an invaluable resource throughout this process and hope that I can contribute in the future. Thank you to everyone here for the ongoing education.

The photos are chronological and the tear down began in October. The boat was in pretty tough shape… everything inside the hull was replaced and upgraded. The hull was prepped, rivets rebucked and epoxied. Overall, I am happy with how it turned out. The rebuild was both a fun and curse word filled experience

We can’t wait to get it back on the lake.

Thank you for the kind words. Yeah… the wiring took a bit of thought for me as the starting battery is in the stern and the trolling battery/ charger are in the bow.

Then again…it certainly is easier to re-wire an empty hull.

Thank you! I certainly learn a lot from this forum. I am in the process of changing front battery compartment. I was able to find a LiFePO4 100aH in a mini size. The footprint is similar to a group 24, so it should fit in the compartment I made. This battery is solely for the trolling motor.

I‘ll use a Noco Gen10 onboard charger for the LiFePO4. I have moved the flooded group 24, that was in the bow, to the midsection of the boat under the side console. The house and start batteries are connected by Deep Sea’s BatteryLink charger with ACR. Both chargers are connected to a Noco GCP2 plug in.

I’ll post picture of the battery compartment when completed.

I have installed the LiTime 12v 100aH “mini”battery for my TM. The battery was packaged well. The foot print works well for my space. The battery was placed inside a battery case sized for a Group 24 battery.

I used 1inch pink foam board to fit the battery in the case and provide shock absorption. The battery weighs little over 19 pounds. The onboard charge is a Noco gen10pro set to lithium mode.

I’ll report performance when I get out on the water.

The pink foam might be a bit ridged for shick absorbing. I have had very good sucess with closed cell foam, similiar to what you find in a gun case. More cushioning effect with the closed cell foam...just a suggestion...
 
I thought I would post a mid-summer update on this build.

We have had the boat on the lake quite a few times. Fortunately, everything functions as it should! There are no leaks, mechanical, or electrical issues at all. I did have to put some ballast weight on the left side of the boat early in the season, which works perfectly.

I had the 1986 Johnson 40hp serviced at beginning of the season. New water pump, carbs rebuilt. I replaced the spark plugs and control cables, installed a new SS prop and hydrofoil. The motor runs great and pushes the boat, two adults and a dog, at 29mph

The LiTime 100aH LiFePO4 battery has been a great investment. I use the TM for the vast majority of our time on the lake. After 6-7 hours on the lake there is still 70 percent charge left, based on the dedicated onboard voltmeter.

Overall, This has been a rewarding build. We enjoy our time on the lake with this boat.IMG_3003.jpegIMG_2954.jpeg
