Just drill a hole through the deck , but make sure to cut out the circle in the carpet first or your drill bit will unwind your carpet (not cool, lol).

Looks like the product would work well for your application, but I would highly advise you to look beyond that particular seller. In no way does it cost $8 to ship both of those.
