I have a 16' jon. It came with a CC but it was super low think flats fishing boat. I am raising the CC up to a better standing height, sitting height better also. I used some 2x8s to raise it 19.5 inches up. I am trying to decided if I should rebuild it out of Plywood to save some weight. If I do should I use 3/8" or 1"? Should I just use whats there the weight is not that much and I am almost always alone?

If I am visualizing what you are doing, I'm thinking a three or four sided box out of 1/2 or 3/4 ply to raise the existing CC to the height you want. Sounds like you had enough slack in the cables to raise it. That is a good thing. Not sure how you used the the 2x8's so can't really comment.

I made a box (essentially) out of the 2 by on edge sot it is a 2 inch walled box about 19.5" high. I think the plywood will be lighter.

The 2x8 it is sturdy

Plywood would be fine even the 3/8" stuff, just reinforce the corners. How much weight will you really save ??? Probably not much......ifvyou have access to some thin sheet aluminum even better, that is what pop rivets are made for....just gotta use whatever ya got !!!
