This is probably a long shot but figured I ask...

I have this old Eagle Magna depth finder that had some issues (something wrong with the power circuit - was always "on") but otherwise worked. I have it wired with a separate on/off switch to kill the power feed. I kept it around as an extra for my pond boat and guests/my father-in-law to use who are not technologically savvy. Last year I left it on the boat and a rain squall came in; the unit has not worked since.

I went through the usual hoops to try to dry it out:

- Sealed in a bag of rice
- Sealed in a bag with dessicant packets and placed in the sun
- Set it in front of a heater

The head unit appears to be fairly well sealed...at least I see no obvious way to open it.

Has anyone ever fiddled with something like this to bring it back, or should I save time and frustration and consider it a loss? I realize this is a dinosaur but didn't know if there is something easy/free to try. I have another portable size depth finder on my kayak that I could have become the "spare" (grayscale, simple, no GPS) and get something better/lighter for canoe/kayak use.

Another option is to acquire a working Magna or Magna II head unit, but eBay prices are nearly as much as just buying a new, color, GPS, depthfinder.

Thanks!

Probably not worth your time, and if you need parts, you'll probably never find them.
