I have a old steel row boat trailer I'd like to lengthen the tongue on. My options are 16, 14, 12, and 11 gauge steel. What is everyone's experience or recommendation? I have a early 60's 14' alumacraft boat that the trailer pulls. I'm finding it is easier and cheaper to lengthen the tongue vs. replacing the trailer. I've already fixed the trailer up so I'd hate to get rid of it. Thanks for your time!

I didn't think to check that. Great idea. I ended up with 1/8" 3x3. It's a little thicker than the tongue I'm replacing.
