    JACK PLATE

The front and rear plates are 1/8" thick and sandwich 4 pieces of 1 1/2" tube aluminum stacked and welded. To secure it to the transom, the 1/8" plates are through-bolted with (4) 3/8" bolts that are 5" down from the top of the original transom. The motor that mounts to it is a 15hp Suzuki 2...

    JACK PLATE

Well, you're saying I'm wrong and applying your logic to motors and boats with 10x what the OP is asking about and I have done with success. I do agree that using a jack plate on a 150-200hp engine is too much. But, why amplify the OP's question and lie about the results. The reality is that...

    JACK PLATE

You guys are actually 180 degrees off and giving bad advice. In the OP’s case where a 6” taller jack plate will make the “thrust angle” too high isn’t wrong. The transom and motor are not levers. They are stationary objects. Due to how the boat sits in the water and where the propulsion of...

    Relocating battery?

The battery up in the bow will distribute weight very evenly. To secure it, use a piece of 1 1/2" or 2" angled aluminum mounted low on the front seat. This will support the battery towards the rear and the front corners can sit on the hull. Also, use a battery box strap to secure it from...

LUND WC16 MODIFIED FOR TROUT FISHING AND CRABBING

After taking a year and a half off, we got the Lund back out on the water and my kids are more excited than ever to use it! It's so fun to see the excitement through their eyes. Ready for a day on the water. Happy to be out. Cleaned up and ready to go. Landed!

    Anybody use a trailer dolly?

I've used a harbor freight one for about 10 years. I think I paid $60 for it. Both tires wont hold air at this point so I'll probably just replace it as opposed to replacing the tires. They are very useful.

    Heater Install

In the chair up front. Thought about mounting it there but didn't want his legs to get burnt. Having it mounted to the front of the middle seat, he can lean forward and warm his hands but the heater is still a safe distance away.

    Heater Install

While this isn't a huge modification, it is an upgrade that may give others ideas. My son (8) likes to go out with me but gets a little cold sometimes (he doesn't have built in insulation like me  ). So, I was at my folks place last week and snagged their unused Mr. Buddy propane...

    Bimini Top Installation Video

That's a good video. I would say a bimini top is a very underrated boat accessory. I've had one on my boat for years and it makes hot summer and wet fall &spring days very comfortable.

12V Batts Combined in SERIES - Different Size/Capacity OK?

The motor won't care that the batteries are different capacities. As stated above, the motor will draw what it can and stop once there's not enough voltage. However, the charger is where you will run into potential issues...but there's a way around it. If charged together as one, 24v unit...

    Downrigger setups - What’s yours?

I bought a pair of clamp on Scotty Lake Troller's with 4lbs balls years ago and have used them off and on. They are a good size for some of the larger lakes around here. Now that I'm getting more into Kokanee fishing, I'm appreciating the downriggers more. Eventually, I'd like to convert them...

    Most iconic brand?

Agree with all the Lund responses. In the Pacific Northwest, Alaskan or Smokercraft are really nice boats as well.

What are you planning for your boat in 2015

Good thinking. I took my older boy once with my dad and the highlight of the trip was that Grandpa brought circus peanuts and small doughnuts. If they're comfortable, our lines are wet!!!

What are you planning for your boat in 2015

Not being a smarta$$ here but I am planning to get my boat in the water this year. My oldest son is now 4 and my younger boy will be 2 in April. I've had the boat out only a few times in the last 3 years so I am excited to start using it again.

    Will it fit

Another trailer idea would be to buy a small 4'x8' utility trailer at harbor freight. you could use it to haul your boat and just slide it off at the launch. When you weren't using it for your boat, you could put sides on it and use it as a utilitly trailer.
