I went through and checked every fuel connection from the tank to the motor. Fuel flow is much smoother. Put it in the water and it will only start and run with full choke engaged- any ideas?

I disconnected the fuel line where it enters the motor and placed it into a glass bottle when I turned the fuel pump on the gas seemed pretty "aerated" I will post a link when it's done uploading to YouTube

Compression is at 120, I suppose I should check it again after having the exhaust manifold and baffle plate off. Could that problem be indicative of air leaking into the fuel line?

I have a 74 merc 800 that when I got it it fired up and ran great, I put a jet on it and it's been up and down since. Started getting hard to start had to feather the throttle to find the sweet spot, eventually started and ran fine then started losing power. Took to shop he went through carbs...

I tried carb cleaner without results- took it to a boat shop where they did an acid dip(?) Rebuilt them and it solved the issue.

I broke down and took it to a shop, mostly because last year I spent an entire taking apart and putting an older 64 merc to no avail. He pulled the carbs out acid dipped and rebuilt them, says it purrs like a kitten. I'll post tomorrow with the results.

There is fuel in the bowl of the top carb, the jet bowl vent screw is pretty mangled, I'm wondering if it might be clogged preventing fuel flow through the needle...

I was messing with it today and while it was running I sprayed carb cleaner in the top carb and it made it run better, when I sprayed in the bottom it died immediately. I'm trying to figure out if that is telling me that the top one is not getting fuel or if there is a problem with the bottom...

I'm having similar issues, recheck the carb for what?
