tiller steering effort how much is normal?

my motor does have a trim vane but I think it is set ok, the motor does not pull one way or another it is just really stiff as if the friction screw setting would be set too tight. Like I said it swings effortlessly left or right when not under power in gear.

tiller steering effort how much is normal?

thanks guys for your suggestions, for sure I know now that the effort should be way less than what it is to steer this boat. Today I looked it all over again and tried greasing it again in different ways for example while turning the motor back and forth while pumping grease into the steering...

tiller steering effort how much is normal?

It is not tight at all when the boat is not under power but when you are at cruise it is tight all the time, turning left or right or just maintaining a straight direction.

tiller steering effort how much is normal?

I'm operating a tiller powered boat for the first time and it's working out fine except that the steering effort is very high, so high in fact that after about 3 days of fishing on Baptiste my left arm was having major fatigue. I have a new 25 hp 2 stroke on a 14' Grizzly jon boat with a...

    Mounting a 25hp Yamaha

I mounted my new Yamaha 25hp to my Grizzly Tracker which does not have any wood on the transom for the motor to rest against. The Yamaha has a couple of pointed bosses on motor support that now rest against the aluminum transom and actually keep the whole engine support from completely sitting...

Check Out My New Seat Mounts!

sure no problem, the aluminum rivets I used spread out and cover an area similar to what a 1/4 inch flat washer would and feel very secure, but time will be the real test.

Filled in my Jon boat floor

I hear your concerns guys and I will lift the mat and take a look every once in a while. I believe but not positive that this is an exterior grade product, I know my house has a blue foam sheeting all the way around the basement walls, the people at the lumber store said this pink stuff is the...

Should I bolt My Motor On?

I mounted my 25hp Yamaha 2 stroke to my Jon the other day, I noticed that 2 holes are provided to allow the motor to be directly bolted to the transom in addition to the screw clamps. I have already installed the safety chain, do you guys recommend using bolts also?

Filled in my Jon boat floor

I bought the 4x8 sheet of the foam from the lumber yard down the road, but the Lowe store had some blue stuff but it didn't think it was as dense. I believe this pink stuff was made by Owens Corning and has a R value of 7.5.

Filled in my Jon boat floor

I wanted to make the floor in my Jon flat, I was worried about tripping or slipping on it the way it was. I didn't want to give up and depth or as little as possible, so what I did was get a sheet of Styrofoam insulation 1 1/2 " thick same as the boat ribs, this pink stuff is very dense and you...

Check Out My New Seat Mounts!

I'm real happy with my new seat mounts and I thought I'd share. I bought the kits from Bass Pro and riveted them to the bench using 1/4" structural rivets. It feels really solid. This mount allows you to completely remove the seat and use the platform for fishing.

PT Decking for Jon Boat Floor

How about cedar or plastic decking? I like the idea of air circulating under the floor that's why I'm leaning towards planks with a small gap instead of a plywood sheet.

    Successful Used Outboard Buying

hey guys I gave in today and bought a new Yamaha 25hp two stroke. I was just spending too much time looking for a good used one. The other thing is our Canadian dollar has slipped by 20 cents on the US so that means new things are going to go up. So yesterday I started calling all Yamaha Dealers...
