    Aluminum floor thickness

Thanks for all the great insight and responses. I agree with most of your replies. Sounds like it may be more trouble than it's worth to layer the aluminum. I will add more bracing and stack foam underneath to support the thinner sheets. Would 12" framing be enough to support the .063? Also...

    Aluminum floor thickness

That's why I post on here, I hadn't considered the water getting trapped between the layers. THanks for the idea!

    Aluminum floor thickness

My father-in-law had an old 1970s pop-up camper sitting on his farm for years. When I saw it and realized it was made of all aluminum, I knew I'd struck a goldmine for my tinboat project. I took a trailer to the farm, cut the camper up and brought it home. Now I have a lot of material to get me...

    Alumacraft 1540 Conversion

It's a common misconception that air pumps put oxygen in the water. This is not really true. Oxygen is introduced to the water through agitation of the surface. If you have a water pump that is constantly moving the surface of the water, it will allow diffusion of oxygen into the livewell. The...

    18' Polar Kraft Conversion

I like this type of design, very similar to what I am going to do with mine. Open floorplan, plenty of room to move around. I imagine that boat is solid. Nice work on the transom, looks like it will hold up for years.

    14' Flat Bottom Sketchup Model

Youtube has a lot of videos with tutorials and tips for using Sketchup. Google has a pretty nice help/support section with videos also. https://support.google.com/sketchup/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=36207 I also bought the book Sketchup for Dummies.. cause that's what I am. These are the...

    I had to do something.

I noticed most of you have stationary stands. I put wheels on mine so I could move it around the shop more easily. One word of advice if you do this, put LOCKING wheels on them. I didn't think about it at the time, but I sure learned my lesson the first few times I tried to pull start my motor!

    14' Flat Bottom Sketchup Model

The finished bow plate looks fantastic! What tool (in sketchup) did you use to twist the sculpture? Sketchup is a really great way to help visualize the final product. Sometimes your brain and reality don't see thing the same way :LOL2:

    I had to do something.

Nice job. I really like the wider stand so you can fit two motors on it. I should have done at so I could put my trolling motor on there as well.

How to attach carpet to aluminum floor?

I can understand the problem with keeping the carpet clean. I really like the HydroTurf idea. Checked out the site and they have some good colors and it's really not that expensive. I'm not sold on the textured coverings. I like to fish comfortable and sometimes barefoot. Seems like this stuff...

How to attach carpet to aluminum floor?

I'm going with an aluminum floor in my boat. What is the best way to attach the carpet to the aluminum? I assume using some type of adhesive/cement will be the best bet. Has anyone done this and how did it work out for you? I was also thinking about putting some screws or maybe rivets around...

    14' Flat Bottom Sketchup Model

Thanks for all the kind words. Glad you enjoy the model. I have to say that this project wasn't easy and I spent more time on it than I should have. As bigkat has said, Sketchup is easy to learn and difficult to master. You can start building woodworking and house projects quickly. Things with...

    14' Flat Bottom Sketchup Model

Hey guys, I have been reading this site for a year contemplating my future boat mod. The time has finally come as I purchased a 2005, 1448 Lowe flat bottom boat with a 25XD Mercury motor a few months ago. I have already stocked up on a new fish finder, trolling motor, batteries, and some...
