Plain or marine or treated lumber for deck projects??

I would highly suggest aluminum... skip the wood completely. Lighter, won't water log, stronger etc. Do it once, do it right.

    Did you name your boat?

"Rock Bottom".... pretty self explanatory for a shallow water jet rig!

    Jet boat pictures

RPjet... Yup, I miss the RS of old, its supposed to be coming back, but is a S L O W process. Its been "coming soon" for months. And yes, I had built a 1448 with a 25/20 jet, before I have the boat I have now. And yes, I was SUPER bummed out when I had my first high speed impact. I was so...

    Jet boat pictures

MMMM, a RiverPro, VERY nice... and your just across the river from me! I think you should take me for a spin on that beast! Heres my jet rig. Set up to handle the skinny water as best as possible. Started life as a SeaArk 1660. Extended front deck for a larger casting deck and so I could get...

What MPG are you guys getting?

I think you are fine... I get about 2.5-3mpg. A jet is a very gas hungry creature.... especially the 2 strokes. And the larger the HP the worse it gets. Nature of the beast! Jets are: expensive compared to their prop counterparts steer horribly at low speed lose about 1/3 of the head hp not...

    painting a stripe

Im not sure how wide of a stripe you are looking to do, but have you considered a vinyl stripe? Im thinking it would be easier, have sharper edges, and be less work than painting it on there. And if you ever decided on something different, it could be removed (with a heat gun and goo-gone)...

    Whale Tail

Bulldog, to good to be true was actually a TON of work to get it that way. My boat started life as an open hull SeaArk 1660... and was purposely designed to be the shallowest drafting, quickest plane boat I could come up with, using my knowledge and skills. And I love everything about the...

    Whale Tail

Yeah, I would guess you would be correct! A half a ton jet is a lot to offset. Whale Tail away!!!!

    Ideas on rod storage.

I don't know how larger your front deck area is, but I drilled holes and used 1.5 inch PVC pipes that are foamed in place and used one rod saver on each side for the reel end of the rod/reel combo. Its a huge space saver and works perfectly in my 1660. Heres when I was building the boat. And...

    Whale Tail

I understand the want for a whale tail and what they do, but I feel if a jet boat is set up and balanced well, the need is almost non existent. Try moving your weight around (fuel tank, batteries, driver position etc.) I have never seen ANY boat plane faster than mine, a highly modified SeaArk...

    Your opinion is........

That depends on the water you are fishing. If you are squeezing through tiny shoots, and avoiding rocks like it your job (like you are using this in the susky) the smaller boat will be more practical. It also depends on where/how you are launching this thing (do you have to push it off the...

OK, I have HAD IT.... LINE TWIST!

Just thought I would follow up on this.... and yes I close my bail by hand. I tried the boat trick.... I walked it all out, I used line conditioner.... only helped very temporarily. Then I sucked it up, and went on bought some Power pro for the three reels I was still using mono on... PROBLEM...

power trim/tilt failure on a Yammy 115/80 jet

Don't think the fact that its a jet matters, but thought I would include it in the info. Fished out of my buddies 1860 skeeter with a 2002 Yammy 2 stroke 115/80 jet the other day. And he commented that his trim gauge was acting goofy. I didn't think much of it, but when we took the boat out, he...

    Seat Placement Question?

I would offset it for a gas motor (and I have) but like mentioned, if you intend to row the boat at all, maybe not. Heres my old 1448 with the rear seat offset for the 25/20 jet tiller. This was during the build, but its a good shot that you can see how far its offset.

OK, I have HAD IT.... LINE TWIST!

Brine; Sorry, I thought I listed the lb test, but as I look at the original post I see I had a typo. Its 6 lb test on a light action rod, and same line on a med-light rod. I use these two rod for throwing small stuff (obviously) mainly small crank baits (the smaller size big O and a small rebel...

    Seat Reviews

Like I said, the all weathers are nice, and comfy, but not as comfy or plush as the navistyle. The biggest thing is there is no way to secure them closed for travel/rough water etc. If thats not a concern for you, or you want to bungee them down or something, they are also nice.

    Seat Reviews

DONT CHICKEN OUT, best seat EVA! I know its a fair amount of money, but well worth it. And I had BPS price match mine at 89$ each.... :) Go for it!

OK, I have HAD IT.... LINE TWIST!

WHY? I never had this problem, now in the last two seasons, its terrible! What am I doing wrong? My line? My reels? Filling the spool? Ive tried filling the spool every different way. I have been using BPS excel line for 5-6 years now (mono 6lb test on these reels) and the reels are pflueger...

    Mercury 65 JET trim FAILURE

Sorry to hear this. My regular fishing partner has a 115/80 yammie, and the last time we were out, the till trim no longer works. It just makes a slight clicking sound. Is this what yours did? What is the cost to have this fixed from your experience? Thank God I have a tunnel jet and no use...

WTB: 50-55lb bow mount foot controlled TM

Thanks for the post (sorry for the unspeedy reply) I had seen that one, but its fairly beat up. I did wind up picking up a 55lb thrust, power drive v1 (that looked like it had never been used) for just under 300$ for my buddy. It works great, pulls his 16 footer around fairly well and he's...
