Can you interchange Minn Kota Parts?

Recently I was given a Minn Kota Endura trolling motor and the motor housing was badly corroded. The control unit is fine but I need to replace the lower unit. Since I only fish salt water flats I was thinking about buying a salt water lower unit. Will this work or am I wasting my time?c
