Hi everyone, this is a great site!

I have a 12 foot jon boat with a damaged transom drain. The previous owner used silicon sealant to patch it and it held up really well, but I want it to be right.

I found the replacement tube on the Moeller Marine site, but I'm not sure about how to install one properly, plus there is so much going on and coming together where this drain is I'm afraid I may do more damage.

Any suggestions? Should I try to patch it? or do the replacement?

For what it's worth carb & choke cleaner does a great job removing silicone sealant.

I'll try to attach a couple photos.
