The word that comes to mind is ingenious. Describes the members here as well as the gadget itself.

I knew what they were the minute I saw them but wanted to see what kind of WAG would come out from the guys here.
My Grandfather used them when I was a kid, he would normally get under a hiway bridge and hang a lantern over each side of the boat and proceed to fill the stringers with nice sized Crappie and White Bass. We lived in Arkansas and it was a very common thing to do on weekends.

Now it makes sense.
I have around 20 Coleman lanterns in my collection.
