I'm new to the site and just got my second boat...Don't Make Cents, Either. Its an older Lowe 1436 that needs a little love...
Looking for ideas, and love what I have been seeing on the forum...couple of questions that I would like you guys to weigh in on....
1. Would 6.5hp be enough to push this boat at a respectable speed, maybe 10-15mph? I plan on fishing small ponds and lakes with the exception of my yearly trip to reelfoot lake.
2. There is a hole on the right side of the boat just below the water line, about 1/2 inch in diameter, and not really enough metal left to pound the hole closed and weld it, cut a patch and weld on both sides? Then how do I smooth the outside? I'm not worried about drag but do plan on painting the boat and would like it to look somewhat respectable...or should I just used the hole for a livewell?
Here's a pic...sorry about the quality, cellphone...at least the boat fits in the heated side of the shop!
