Can u swap the carb on a '74 9.5 to the 15hp?
Anyone got a guess on how fast a 9.5 will push my 1648?

I don't think you can swap.

I'd guess a max speed of 10 with the boat completely emptied except driver and gas tank....thats just a guess.

You might pick up a few mph but not really worth all the trouble.

You can swap the carb on a johnson/Evinrude 9.9 to a 15. It will allow the engine to run at a higher rpm and produce up to 15hp. But it won't work to good on a 16ft boat. You'd be better off with a 35 to 50hp motor.
