I need some help here. my motor would only start with starter fluid, so I cleaned out the carb and rebuilt the fuel pump it starts now but i'm having hell trying to keep it running. I know its kinda vague but any ideas are apreciated.

what color does the plug look like after it runs?

you need to figure out if its running rich or lean. cover the carb inlet with your hand w/ the motor running to rich'n the mixture and see if it makes it run better or worse

make sure both plugs are firing w/ a nice blue spark

after that i would go back into the carb. make sure you didnt miss a jet and your float is adj. correctly

What year is your motor?
Those fuel pumps can be difficult to get back together right. Are you sure you rebuilt it right?
Turn the low speed screw out 1 1/2 turns and then fine tune it from there until it starts idling right.

wow i feel like an idiot. my mix screw was waaayyy off. thats why once i got it started it would race up and then die. thanks for the help guys.
