New to site need livewell help.

New to the site but so far it looks great!
Trying to get ideas for a livewell in my boat. I'm going to put a deck over it. Gonna need a good size one for catfish. can anyone post some pics of your setup? Thanks GREAT SITE! =D>

I use a 120qt cooler from walmart. If you go through the mods on the site, you will see quite a few different setups, or just run a search for the word "livewell" and you should get lots of good info. Good luck!

what size boat do you have?

A buddy in my bass club just cut down his 120qt cooler and decked over it... the deck covers the whole top of the cooler, and I think he has about a 12"x12" opening in the top. The smaller the opening, the harder it is for them to jump out - but if you're catfishing, I don't think you need to worry about that, and I don't think a 12" opening would let the big cats in my pond in...

I don't know how much you want to spend, but I have done some research on a few sites. The prices vary considerably. You should visit a few and decide what you want to do.

This one had pre-built out of aluminum https://www.fishmateprolivewells.com/Livewells.php I think Cabellas has cut a deal with them for their catalog.
I may or may not build mine. I have a plan using two (2) 14 gallon Rubbermaid units for a total water volume of 20 gallons. If I do, I will be reinforcing the sides. I have also looked at Flow-rite controls https://www.flow-rite.com/marine/ These are not cheap either, but they serve a great purpose. The automatic 3 position valve automatically switches from lake water intake to recirculation automatically when you start to power up the boat.
