Does anyone know if it was originally a part of the tank, and what purpose it serves? Attachments 20180707_152326.jpg 18.3 KB · Views: 602

The pickup tube is a plastic tube that is slash cut with a mesh screen inside; it doesn't appear to be related to that either.

More than likely, it broke off in the tank for the original owner who replaced the sending unit without removing the old part from the tank.
