Evergreen SB-125

December 18, 2020 by jim Leave a Comment

Like I honestly needed to buy an Evergreen SB-125. I have enough lures and baits to open my own store, but because I’m a sucker, I ended up buying two of these baits, because God forbid I miss out on the biggest bass of my life. There’s only one person to blame for this and it’s Bill Quatrucci, owner of BiCO Jigs.

We’re heading down to Mexico, and Bill posts this bait along with a monster fish that was caught on it. Instantly I convince myself that if I don’t buy this lure, I will miss that opportunity of a lifetime. Take a look at this Bass, and then really take a look at the background. Does that not look like prime topwater fishing action? Insane right?

Below is the description taken directly from the Evergreen Americas website. From what I have read the SB stands for “Shower Blows”. Where did that come from? It’s not on their website. The SB-125 glides on top of the water like a ballerina.

Its unique bill produces powerful splatter, spit, and bubbles that appeal to the fish. A body designed for air-resistance reduction and tungsten weights at the very end of its tail guarantee incredible distance even against headwinds. It can now search a much wider area with just one cast. Excellent body balance allows it to make quick consecutive turns without jumping out of the water, making it move much like agitated bait fish chased by a bass.

The bait readily triggers the fish to bite. The feather hooks attached to the tail serve as “resonance” in the intervals between stillness and motion of an action, take those light bites of a fish unable to break above water into full-on bites, and help support the hook’s suction. On the other hand, the resistance created by the feather hooks has the effect of producing more sharpness to the bait’s quick turns. Whether to attract far-away fish with dramatic action, or nervous fish with soft vibrations, the SB-125 is the one tool that can handle it all, regardless of any change in the day-to-day conditions of the fish. Make SB-125’s outstanding abilities a part of your repertory.

I can’t wait to try them out. I ordered the Black Bone color from Southern Reel Outfitters which was super hard to find online. The price was $17.99 which falls under my strict limit of no more than $20 per bait. If you’re interested in getting them, click their link above and you will save 10%.
