Below water line through hull fitting and live well question

Thanks for your reply. I will get a screen to cover the pump inlet. Would using 5200 make it difficult to remove the old pump if it breaks? Would marine silicon be OK (might be easier to remove when replacing the pump)? Yes, the live well has an overflow that empties of the side of the boat...

Below water line through hull fitting and live well question

Used 1999 Klamath Stinger I've had for about 3 years. Wondering if these through the hull fittings need attention. Specifically the one on the left has a thick black gasket that looks kinda cracked. The white one appears to have no gasket. Not wanting to let water get into the transom I might...

question on electric motor for my build

That looks like a pretty light boat so it may be ok if you aren't fighting much current or wind. My 15 foot Klamath is a bit more built out and heavier and I used a 36 lb thrust motor that came with the boat for a year or two. I found that for my needs which sound similar to yours it wasn't too...

Help me identify this new project valco?

Where are you located? Valco boats were made in Clovis, Ca and went out of business in 2004 I think. Part of their business was bought by Klamath. All the one's I've seen are in that 13-15 foot range. Basic boats riveted boats, but well made. They are still a ton of them in Northern...

    tm battery relocation

I too have my motor and battery located at opposite ends of the boat. For convenience sake in taking my Terrora (55lb) on/off the boat I used a plug set up I bought from Cabelas. Looking at these set ups, their wires are usually 8 gauge at best, sometimes 10 gauge. That's not good right?

    Backup Cameras

Man, it's hard to believe how inexpensive those are.

    fish finder suggestions

Lots of places are starting to drop prices on outgoing models like 899, etc. Previously $999, could have been had at Cabelas for $719 (with 10% off coupon). Hopefully will drop even more when the new Helix models are officially released.

I hear new, bigger Helix models (9, 10, 12?) are coming out early October.

    Chris' 12' Valco

Valco, Klamath and Gregors are beloved tin boats in California. Love the boat. Can't believe your friend didn't want it.

    Fabricated Trolling Motor Ramp

Was the livewell factory or did you add that? You did a great job customizing your boat.

First ever boat project '73 Lund 14'

I'm almost certain they won't. We have West Marine here which is pricy for epoxy, we have TAP plastics which is a chain that sells there own epoxy cheaper than West Marine, but buying online is a LOT cheaper. Raka.com and UScomposites are pretty cheap for epoxy. I went with US composites, I...

    Transom Help

If there are no stamps on it, then I'm not sure how'd you'd be sure that it is exterior grade. I guess you could put 2 layers together and as said above epoxy coat it. For me, I surely would not count on regular plywood (non marine or exterior grade) coated with urethane or worse paint holding...

Blue or Pink Foam Board in Semi V

I think it would be frustrating to try to cut the foam such that it filled the space under the floor completely. I plan to light sculpting to the foam but it won't fit perfectly against the V shaped floor. I think the empty space would provide space for water to be able to drain to the back of...
