    14 ft Valco

Hello again Tinboaters, Can anyone give me some advice on repairing my drain plug ? We have used the boat with no issues as is, it does not leak. Possibly previous owner just filled it for some reason. Can I just drill it out again and install a rubber compression type plug? Thanks.

    Valco P14 center seat removal

Hi rasbrown, I'm looking to do the same thing. I'm thinking about just cutting out the middle of the bench, leaving the two sides for support , capping the ends, and dropping in the cooler inside an aluminum frame. I know a 14 foot boat is tough to find space for a cooler :D

    Drain plug

Think I will just leave it . I cover the boat. Have a bilge pump. Even with drain plug there's still always a tiny amount of water sitting in the back. Wet vac it out. I'm in San Diego so doesn't take long to dry it out.

Managed to get a little more done Sunday. Installed grab bar, made from an old stepladder I found. Also finished the bow mount for the trolling motor. Next is tiller extension, (aluminum baseball bat, copying from another member ), lights and bilge. So almost there. :)

1959 Alumacraft 14' to flats skiff

FlatsStalker17, I have similar plans for my 14 foot Valco, primarily for fishing San Diego Bay and inshore. Working a lot of weekends so its a slow process, but getting close. I decided to keep the decks low for more stability in my v hull. I have grab bar and tiller extension ready to install.

    14 ft Valco

Thanks . Pretty pleased with it. Keeping it simple. A few before pictures. Transom was pretty shot. Fiber glass mat and epoxy resin repair both sides after grinding clean. Then short strand fiberglass bondo. Solvent base aluminum primer and top coat. With 5200 on any seams. A lot of people...

Hi All, Managed to finish up the interior over the weekend. Just need to double up the plywood on the bow hatch then install. Hope to get the exterior primed and painted above the rub rail only this week after work. Then get it off the trailer to work on that. Moving forward slowly . Have a...
