Bugpac, there are pick ups on both sides of the lower unit. I don't think it matter's which side the hose is on. Bikeordie092, I wasn't sure if the impeller was installed in the correct direction or not but I read that it will flip into the right direction when the motor starts up.

I was wondering that myself. Do the muffs force water through the tell tale on all motors when they're not running?

Thats good. I just changed the lower unit oil last weekend and wouldn't want it going to waste. Is there a gasket that needs to be replaced when putting the lower unit back on?

This may sound stupid but I'm a newbie. When I drop the lower unit is lower unit oil going to leak out anywhere or is it all contained in a separate part of the lower unit?
