    Rebuilding a 1977 Ouachita

I bought a gallon and ended up using about 3/4 of it. I could have gotten away with less but I really wanted to make sure any suspect rivets were coated with a thick layer of this stuff.

    center console addition

Cool deal, love the center console. I would love to put one in mine but I'm too greedy with my space so tiller will have to do.

Yeah she runs along at a pretty good clip. I wish I had a GPS so I could get the exact speed but I would guess that it runs about 25 mph or so depending on if I have a passenger or not. RBuffordTJ - I live just outside of Flagler, about 15 minutes from the ICW.

    Rebuilding a 1977 Ouachita

Finally at long last I'm done with the build. I still need to create a mounting point for flounder gigging lights in the bow and put in a bilge pump but that's it. The boat doesn't want to porpoise now that I have the trolling motor & battery mounted, thank goodness. baptistpreach - It's a...

Has this ever happend to you?

I'll have to pickup some stuff from the auto parts store for the grease, thanks for the suggestions. I think between the burner almost burnt a hole through the already thin bottom and then a reaction between the aluminum and the concrete finished the job. Like by brew gear I'm going all SS for...

    Tooth question?

My wife has had 3 root canals and she hasn't had any problems with them since then. This is coming from a woman who has had more than her share of dental problems. The only thing she had to say about them is that on occasion of she brushes too hard around those teeth sometimes the gum area...

15' fisher marine (update pics added 3-20-09)

Nice! Looks like you have a perfect clean slate to start your build with. Can't wait to see what you do with it.

    crack in keel

The first jon boat I had I broke a large section of weld in the bow where the front of the jon boat starts to make the upward curve. The crack was about 6 inches long in total. I cut a patch out of a piece of sheet aluminum and formed it into the proper shape. I the drilled holes on both side of...

How not to use a wood chisel...

Dang man sorry to hear about the injury. Hopefully you'll have a speedy recovery & didn't do to much damage to the muscle.

    Home Brewing

I can't believe I just found this thread, been gone from the site too long I guess. I've been homebrewing for about 12 years now. I started out with the ubiquitous Mr.Beer kit and have since graduated to a custom built brew rig, that I use for brewing either 5 or 10 gallon batches (all grain)...

Has this ever happend to you?

I have a aluminum pot that I use to fry turkeys in. I normally drain the oil after each fry and clean the pot out. Well long story short I didn't last time and it has been sitting on the back patio (concrete floor but roofed over and screened in) for a few months. I notice this morning that...

Top 5 species of fish that you would love to catch.

Tarpon Cobia Snook -A big one Halibut Salmon (via fly fishing in AK) FYI you can catch all the peacock bass you can stand in South Florida. As for the tarpon they come into the rivers here locally either once or twice a year. Tarpon fishing out of a jon boat...that just makes me smile.

    Rebuilding a 1977 Ouachita

I plan on moving the battery to the front but I just don't see how I could move the gas tank to the front. I am greedy with my open cockpit space and don't want to clutter it up with a gas tank and hose. I have it under the back deck currently. I would move it to under the front deck but of...

    Rebuilding a 1977 Ouachita

I've adjusted the motor every which way. If I move the pin to the next notch down it doesn't do it but then it plows through the water and is obviously set too low. It only at very top speed that it does this. I don't think more weight is going to solve the problem either. I had a friend of mine...

    Rebuilding a 1977 Ouachita

The motor cost 2976.00 after tax. That was with fuel tank & hose included. I was finally able to take the boat out today and what a difference a motor makes. This is my first 4 stroke and it so quite that my bait aerator made more noise than the motor does. I'm almost done with the build, I just...
