Well its been two years since posting and the boat has done very little. I ended up moving out of California up to Idaho. Hopefully this summer I can get to working on it. Been tossing around the idea of putting a Seadoo motor in it since I now live on a river.
I thought about keeping it but I have a 12 foot Valco and I like the tall sides of it so it won the race to the garage.
I have a few months to get rid of it and I just don't want to see it go to scrap.
Long time no visit here and still have my Valco project on the back burner. Anyway a buddy was moving so he gave me his project, it has sat for some time and I now I can't keep it because I am moving out of California. I want it to go to someone that will take care of it instead of just trashing...
Haven't done much of anything with the boat lately, been busy with work and life. Have been buying and gathering parts and pieces so when I do get the time I have everything I need.
It was for a 14'er and they moved the axle forward a few inches for some reason. Plan is to clean it up and move the axle back and fix some old rust spots. Other than that not much until maybe next season.
Only thing I can add is to try one that has been Spatchcocked (Cut the backbone out to lay flat). I usually brine mine and then just seasalt and pepper for a rub. Smoked Turkey is some of the best if you ask me.
On my jeep I used Rustoleum truck bedliner on all my tube and chrome parts. It gives a nice not to extreme grip and looks great. I did mine a few years ago and beat on them and they are still holding up.
