I haven't changed the top of the console out yet - currently I'm rebuilding the carbs for the 2021 season. Hope to get all the old paint cleaned off the sides and clean up the console before she goes into the water this year. I'll be sure to post progress pictures!

Northshore MA - Engine Tune Up / Repower

Thanks for your replies everyone - unfortunately I've had a similar experience to Jethro. Figured I would follow up and let everyone know what I've been working through the last few days. Servicing: The engine is old enough that no shops want to touch it, even for a timing / compression /...

Northshore MA - Engine Tune Up / Repower

Happy Friday everyone! With boat season coming up here in the Northeast, I've been trying to run outstanding items on my aluminum 16 ft project boat to ground so it's ready to go for the season. With my first kid being born in February, my priorities have changed a little bit, specifically my...

Console work continued... Ended up taking aluminum from the (no removed) middle bench seats and used it to cover up the top of the console and provide a place for intrument mounting. It's functional for now, but I plan on remaking it with thinner aluminum in a single sheet so there won't be any...

Howdy everyone - made a ton of progress since the last post and have been out enjoying the boat on the water so I just hadn't gotten around to updating this project page! Washed and re-bucked the hull, planned and built the center console, ran wiring for everything, and since the ocean has been...

Stopping a run-away boat ... my attempt failed

Kudos to you, I think you did the best you could in the situation you were put in and it was the courageous thing to do. What looks like a welded plate aluminum boat, at 19 ft is nothing to scoff at to wrangle by any means and I think it's nothing short of a miracle that houseboat caught the...

I have given it some thought - I suppose I figured having it near the back allows for a little more room for the passengers up front to congregate. I know it would prevent porpoising and make for better planing though. I have yet to finalize the cable order though, so maybe a quick community...

    De-pro'ing a Tracker

Man you've done amazing work on this boat! It's part inspiring and part boat envy when I look at the work I've done with my Lund rebuild so far  It's a tough balance I'm trying to strike between having enough room for passengers and utility for fishing since I'll using it for both with...

Big flood to combat the drought of updates on this progress. Since the last post I've been able to make and complete huge milestones: Transom: -Got the newly made transom back (got it made for a barter, probably should have done professional - lesson learned) -Installed new transom hull...

Past few days have been dedicated to further stripping of inner hull paint and surface refinishing. The way of arms and shoulders are feeling after today makes me want to invest in an SCT I saw in another build! Not too much in this update to actually talk about - stripped out the...

    1971 Starcraft refit

Love the look of that boat! That blunt nose is something I had tried to find when I was looking for my project boat. Progress looks good so far - full tear down and strip like I'm doing on my project. I have been looking for a wire cup like like the one in your photo, mind mentioning the model...

Holiday vacation progress is best progress - hope I can keep delivering more posts like this! Since the last update regarding the removal of the transom insert, I've been able to remove the old aluminum transom skin, strip out all the sheet metal that make up the bench and side console, and...

Evening All! Been a while since the last update, been dealing with some family matters. Since the last post, I've got all the decking and seating done - it's currently awaiting penetrating epoxy and I can slap some paint on it or carpeting depending on how I'm feeling. Finishing the seating...
