I called the mechanic. He said probably a prop seal. Told me he'd look at it next wednesday. Even said it was ok if I took it out on the water as is. I'll update as this gets resolved. Maybe it'll help the next guy.
I have a 2004 Nissan 18hp 4 stroke outboard. I noticed a little clean (unused) oil around the prop. I wiped it off and a couple of days later it reappeared. Not much just a drip, but it's definitely there. What would your next course of action be?

I'll echo what others have said and recommend low decks.
Here's what I did. I've fished out of it since 2005 and it's pretty comfortable and stable for a 1436.

I'm far from an expert, but I'll share what I've learned...
1. Framing? When framing the front make sure your braces are sitting on the ribs and not resting on the floor.
2. How far from the top can you go? This is the big question. Obviously the higher you go, the less stable the boat...
If that's Perry Co Lake, then you're only about 30 mintues from me. I've never been there, but I know guys who do quite well. I tend to stick to the same 4 or five bodies of water.
