Cotter pin size for 88 Yamaha 25

Left my boat at Dale Hollow Lake in a slip. My new prop came in and I don't know what size cotter pin to take with me to change the prop out when I go back this weekend. I already had the old prop off and reinstalled the old pin so I am afraid to do it again without changing the cotter pin...

    Prop spin on Yamaha 25

Motor is not slipping. I dont have a tach to take a RPM reading. The motor is an 88 model with the factory prop. I took the reading with my GPS. I had just a small amount of throttle left but it sounded like it was at a point that I wouldnt get much more out of it without over revving the motor.

    Prop spin on Yamaha 25

No fishing line just does not "freespool" in neutral....Just has slight resistance when you turn the prop. Not gritty even. Lower unit is in good shape oil is freshly changed and the old oil looked the same as the day it went in.

    Lower unit gear oil brands.....

After some digging it seems the Supertech marine gear oil at walmart is actually pennsoil gear oil. I does seem slightly thinner than the yamalube. Hope this does not make a difference.

    Lower unit gear oil brands.....

Got a 88 yamaha 25hp motor. Got Wally World brand gear oil for it and changed it. Found a tube of yamaha gear oil in the storage from the previous owner after I already changed it. Should I drain the Wally World oil out and put the yamaha back in it or does it really matter?

    Prop spin on Yamaha 25

I have a 88 yamaha 25 tiller steer motor. When in neutral the prop does not spin more than a couple revolutions when you spin it with your hand. My friend has a 25 Evinrude and it will spin several revolutions....even spin when he is towing it. I have spun mine really slow and it is a smooth...

    Gas Tank Question.....

How do I know if the fuel I get is ethanol free? I see stickers on some pumps telling what percentage it is, but I never really paid much attention. Is this something that HAS to be posted in plain view stating that it contains ethanol? State or Federal mandate on the notification of the...

    Gas Tank Question.....

When I bought my 88 model yamaha 25hp motor, it came with a 6 gallon metal gas tank. Buddy of mine told me the first thing to do was to trash the metal tank, and get a new plastic one. Told me the metal tanks over time corrode and gum up the carbs on the motor. I shined a light inside the...

88 25 hp Yamaha oil injection to pre-mix.....

Anyone converted their outboard? Seems like it would be more bulletproof. I have heard that the way these particular motors were made, that converting will possibly gum up the carbs....any input appreciated.

    I haven't screwed up....yet. Plywood type?

OK....at our local Lowe's there are 3 types to choose from.......1) Labeled interior use only 2) labeled for interior or exterior (as long as it is properly treated) 3) pressure treated for exterior use only. Guess the second type is what I should use?

    I haven't screwed up....yet. Plywood type?

Would that be the type that says "for interior use, and exterior use with proper treatment".....?

    I haven't screwed up....yet. Plywood type?

I joined the forum earlier today, treasure trove of info on here!! So much info, that I managed to miss the fact that you are not supposed to use pressure treated plywood on aluminum. (shoulda been tipped off by the "stainless steel hardware only" tag on the plywood =D> ) Haven't cut it or...
