I've been stopped once. I have stopped quite a few, mostly pleasure boaters. I tend to leave the fisherman alone unless they are doing something really crazy.

A little update, I ended up with an ASUS U52 w/intel core i5, 4 GB RAM, and a 640 GB HD, and built in web cam. Got Office 2010 and Kaspersky Anti-Virus. Got the folks at Best Buy to fo the set up and install. I'm really pleased so far. Thanks again for the suggestions. I did a little more...

Ok boys and girls, I'm getting deployed here pretty soon. I need some suggestions for a decent laptop in the 400-600 dollar range. I will (hopefully) be using it to video chat with the family, create word and excel docs, and watch the occasional movie. Any help would be appreciated.

I see you did go with the vertias, nice! They are light but have plenty of back bone. I use mine a flippin sitck with 20 lb fluoro and haven't had issues. I flip alot of docks. The rod had done really well and is way lighter than my previous flippin stick.

I'm and LEO in the real world. I'm in the USMC reserves, so no leave required but thanks for your concern. The AD gets a 96 for Christmas. AS far as the rod goes, I don't know how fond you are of split grips.
