    Identify a Pflueger casting reel?

That was the criterion, iirc, circa 2008.

    No one ice fishing?

If I had to cut a hole to fish in winter, I'd either off myself or move South. Fortunate to be in the great state of GA!

    Just for fun

Old habits die hard, I suppose. Being a former tourney fisherman, theres anywhere from 10 to 18 combos in the boat, one for every lure I plan to use that day, plus a couple of extras. Most of my stuff is very high end, so I'm a little OCD with the covers and such. Also, my stuff is very...

    101lb thrust on a 12ft jonny.....

Yes, it would damage the motor. Simple electrical formula: volts x amps = watts. Electric motors are a certain wattage, and that never changes, so it can't be a variable in the equation. If you lower the voltage, you thereby raise the amperage(also known as current). The higher the current, the...

Halo Rods...do any of you fish with them?

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but they are not very durable. I have seen 3 of them shatter into multiple pieces on the hookset. A local shop was carrying them and the owner said 1 in 4 are failing. I would look elsewhere.

    Quantum Team KVD reel

I hope it serves you well, but it is built on the same frame as the Code. Those were very poorly-constructed reels. I saw 9 of them come thru my hands that were less than a year old and weren't worth the cost of necessary repairs. But maybe by this gen, they got the bugs worked out. And besides...

    The truth about Bait casters

I have a couple of Daiwa baitcasters that will cast a 1/16 oz. crappie jig or crank admirably. That being said, they retail for over $400 and are still $250-$300 in good used condition. Plus, they have a ton of upgrades internally(I'm a freak like that). I occasionally buy a spinning reel, only...

Last time I buy a Daiwa spinning reel :(

Anything made for Dick's has been sub-par in quality, in my experience. I swear by Daiwa reels, but I wouldn't own one of those bright orange pieces of junk if you gave it to me! Like all manufacturers, they too will build a product to a retailer's spec's. and price point. It will always be...

Catctching Mud Bugs in a trap....What bait?

Bacon rolled up and tied with a string has always worked for me, too. Just drag it out ever so slowly every few minutes and dip-net the craws off of it. Once they start eating, they rarely let go of it.

    Mongrels - Bait Testers Wanted!

Keith makes awesome baits, guys. I have been fishing lots of his baits-tubes, flukes, etc. since last spring and they catch fish, period. And he's a heck of a nice guy, too. 8)

    okuma rods

You will likely need that lifetime warranty. I have had 3 of them break over time. One was on the cast of a 3/8 oz. jig and trailer. Another was on a hookset and the third was my fault-whacked it the edge of the boat. I know of others that have had the same thing happen. With that knowledge, I...

    New Combo

    I have a 100H and a 100P and I am loving them!

Your ONE favorite rod that you own TODAY?

It's really too hard to choose. Almost all my rods are customs built on Rainshadow RX-7 blanks. I do love my Falcon Cara T7 Finesse Jig rod-it's the only factory rod I have left. Of course, with my reels so tricked out and tuned, it would be almost a sin to put them on plain old factory rods. 8)

New Curado Being Released Next Month: 200HG

I can get any of the Boca bearings. The Orange Seal ABEC 7 ceramic hybrids are what I use most often. Some reels have 3 bearings relating to the spool rotation and others have only 2. Price varies accordingly. For example, my Daiwa reels have 2 spool bearings and cost is $25. The Daiwa Lexa...

New Curado Being Released Next Month: 200HG

He gets them from me. I do all his reel tuning. I actually have 2 of his Curados right now.... 8) btw, my name is Tim and I just found the site from Jim's posts on BaitJunkys(I'm a mod there). Looking forward to contributing to the site. :) I'm the buddy that Bug was referring to as a "huge...
