Possible crack in bottom of boat

Why not? Up on heavy duty saw horses, 5" of water inside will be the same as 5" displacement. Remember, the leak could be behind a strake. Dry the hull, and look for moisture. Perhaps an empty boat blocked on its side, and then a pressure washer... Sent from my SM-T280 using Tapatalk

My 14' tinner never been in sal water - shoud I?

With PVC covers on the bunks and a light boat like yours, you don't have to dunk the trailer above the bearings or springs. Sent from my GT-P3113 using Tapatalk

    mounting a bimini top

Smaller was what I was thinking. I'm happy with this: https://i200.photobucket.com/albums/aa122/mf70/Boat/Tinboat/20160611_094731_zpskwoo9aj5.jpg Sent from my GT-P3113 using Tapatalk

Added PVC DIY Slick--strips to my bunks today. Under $15.00

Very happy with my PVC Gutter covers. * In salt water use, no carpet holding salt against the hull * Due to low friction, no need to even immerse axle bearings to launch or recover.

Getting rid of holes - neatly

For places that lack back access, you might also squirt some urethane foam in each hole, then carve it out after it hardens and cap with JBweld and sand.

    3M-5200 Adhesive/Sealant - Removal

Thanks for the story! On another boat, I did a boo-boo and bonded aluminum gusset plates around a bronze pin using 5200. In salt water, it actually fizzed! I found "Anti-bond 2015" (similar appearance to WD40) which helped me peel the 1/4" AL plate off the hull. Tenacious stuff.

    Need help with old motor

The impeller is likely to be set and/or cracked from age. Getting in to the pump may be a fight with corrosion, but it will be worth it.

    It's All Covered!

No. All seams were "faux" flat felled. Further, I took some care to ensure that the exposed seams were folded in a "shed water" direction. One advantage of this seam is that the first pass is a simple straight line down the final seam. The second pass makes the seam far stronger and neater...

    Dry bilge in winter storage

I haven't liked the little pool of water that collects in the boat while it's on the hard. I came up with a simple way to ensure that any water that sneaks in under the cover is removed. I put a rag in the bilge, threaded through the drain, and dangling a foot or so down. If any water makes...

    It's All Covered!

Just a little bragging and cogitation about my new boat cover... I used the 4.99 polyester fabric from Fabric Wholesale Direct. It is 1/3 the cost of Sunbrella, for good reason. Much lower thread count. It achieves waterproofness by its coating. Fabric and coating together are about as heavy...

Mesh cargo nets for side of bow - worthwhile?

They're wonderful. West Marine sells them. Sent from my GT-P3113 using Tapatalk

    Flat bottom aluminum boat stability?

The other element of stability at rest is mass - the 16 will be twice as heavy, and thus less "tiddly." Sent from my GT-P3113 using Tapatalk

Basic Tips for a New Outboard Owner?

I'd also change the water pump impeller regularly.

plugging livewell intake and drain holes

If you're plugging a through-hull fitting, go for it. If you're blanking a hole in sheet metal, I suspect the rubber plug might get cut by the sheet. That said, I used well-nuts in sheet metal with no problems on a car roof. Sent from my GT-P3113 using Tapatalk

    Aluminum Powder & Epoxy filler

JBweld is iron-filled, and about the same tone. 1 year in, it's looking good. No visible corrosion. It sands pretty well. Sent from my GT-P3113 using Tapatalk
